1. Transmission/transaxle temperature must be 150-170°F (66-77°C). With vehicle on level ground, apply

parking brake, and run engine at idle. Move gearshift selector lever through all ranges, ending in Park.

2. Fluid level should be in crosshatch area on dipstick. If transmission is at 50-95°F (10-35°C), fluid level

should be between 2 dimples on bottom of dipstick.

3. Add fluid as necessary. See RECOMMENDED FLUIDS . DO NOT overfill. Check condition of fluid

for contamination and burned smell. Ensure dipstick is fully installed.

1. With the vehicle in Neutral, position on a hoist. Loosen the transmission fluid pan bolts and allow the

CAUTION: Transmission fluid level should be checked when fluid is normal operating

temperature to ensure fluid level is above ADD mark or lowest dimple on
dipstick. Once fluid is above ADD mark, follow normal checking
procedure.

Approximate dry refill capacity including in-tank oil cooler. Actual refill capacities will vary based
on model and oil cooler size. Correct fluid level should be determined by fluid level check
procedure, rather than amount of fluid added. See CHECKING FLUID LEVEL .

NOTE:

There is a new procedure for draining and adding transmission fluid using a
suitable transmission flush and fill machine. If using machine, read instructions
provided with machine before proceeding to drain and refill transmission.
