Chapter Two. Anti-lock Brake System (ABS/DDRP)

Section One. General Description
One. Maintenance precautions
The following precautions shall be taken
during maintenance of the ABS to avoid
its damage.
1. Detach the electronic brake control
module wire harness from the electronic
brake control module prior to welding.
2. As ABS components are especially
sensitive to EMI (electromagnetic
interference), it is necessary to pay
special attention to the wiring, location,
installation and alignment of all ABS
components as well as their wiring, tie-
ins, clamps and brackets, etc.
3. Do not start the engine or charge the
battery that is still connected with the
rapid charger as it will possibly disable
the battery or damage ABS components.
4. Turn off the ignition switch to
disconnect the battery.
5. Turn off the ignition switch to detach
the electronic brake control module wire
harness from the electronic brake control
module.
6. Do not modify but replace any ABS
component.
7. Do not hang the suspension
component onto wheel speed sensor
wires which will be surely damaged.
8. Do not place the electronic brake
control module where the temperature is
higher than 85 ℃ (184 ℉).
9. Use neither petroleum base liquid in
the brake cylinders nor the petroleum
base liquid containers because petroleum
will bulge and deform the rubber
components in the hydraulic brake
system to allow water into the system
and reduce the boiling point of liquid.

Section Two. Description and
maintenance of ABS components and
functions

Description
The DBC7.0 ABS aims to reduce the
wheel skidding to the minimum on the
principle that the ABS monitors the
speed of each wheel and controls the
hydraulic power applied onto each wheel
during braking so that the driver may
maintain steering stability and realize
better steering performance.
One. Fixing and unfixing the ABS
1. Precautions during unfixing
(1) Identify the faults with a diagnostic
instrument before repairs.
(2) Unpack the spare parts only before
fixing.
(3) Only the original manufacturer’s
components are allowed.
(4) Pay attention to the cleanness during
maintenance and wipe with non-wool
fabrics.
(5) Clean the surface with detergents that
contain no minerals before maintenance.
(6) Do not use compressed air or move
the car when the system is on.
(7) Plug all hydraulic outlets properly
after dismantling the ABS assembly.
(8) Unfix other components that may
interfere with the work.
(9) Please use DOT4 brake fluid and do
not use mineral oil.
(10) Soak the sealing members and O-
rings with the brake fluid but not engine
oil or brake grease.
(11) After maintenance, please check the
operation of regular brake system and
ABS.
(12) Check if there is any leakage in the
hydraulic joints.

2. Unfixing the DBC7.0 ABS assembly
(1) Turn off the ignition switch and
detach the negative wire of the storage
battery.
(2) Step down the pedal (>60mm) and
secure it to close the central valve of the
master pump so that the brake fluid will
not outflow from the outlet when the
system is on.

(3) Release the ABS computer plug-in
safety protection.

(4) Pull the plug-in to the left and take
down the ABS plug-in.

(5) Unfix the six brake pipes of ABS
master pump and mark accordingly. Plug
the pipe immediately.

(6) Unfix the set bolts on the master
pump and take down the master pump.

3. Replacing the hydraulic control
unit
(1) Release the four set bolts on ABS
computer.
Note: do not use the released set bolts.
Screwing torque: 4-6N.m
