Chery Tiggo T11 LHD. Manual — part 121

Chery International Seat and Safety Protection

Turn off the engine

Release the accelerator pedal, wait for
the engine speed decreasing to the
idle speed, and then turn off the
ignition switch.

Please do not step on the
accelerator pedal before

the engine is turned off.

The engine shall not be turned off
immediately when you stop driving

after the engine operates at the high
speed for a long time. The engine
shall operate at the speed of more
than the idling speed for two seconds
so as to make the temperature
decrease gradually.

Caution:

After the ignition switch is turned
off and the engine stops operating,
the temperature is still high and the
electronic cooling fan of the
radiator still operate continuously
for approximate 10 minutes. It is
also possible that the cooling fan
operates again immediately due to
the high temperature even if the
cooling fan stops operating. Thus,
you cannot be too careful when you

work near the engine.

Brake

Dual-circuit

braking

system

Your vehicle is equipped with a
diagonal dual-circuit braking system. If
one of the dual circuits is failed, the
other one still keep its effective
operation.

When one braking

Chery International Seat and Safety Protection

circuit is failed, it is required to
apply greater force to step on
the brake pedal, and the
stopping distance is also
extended. When this case
occurs, please get to the Chery
Authorized Service Station to
make your vehicle repaired
firstly, and then continue to take
your travel.

Brake fluid

If the hand brake is released and the
braking system warning lamp still light,
it indicates that the level of brake fluid
is too low.

The height of level of the brake fluid

shall be checked regularly according
to the requirement.

The brake fluid is added
immediately to keep the

level of fluid reach the MAX mark
and get to the Chery Authorized
Service Station to make the
braking system checked.

Braking

system

description

It is normal that the braking system
gives off some noises infrequently.
However, if the system gives off the
sound that one metal grinds the other
metal or the zip sound for a long time,
it is possible that the brake pad is
heavily worn and required to replace.
In this case, you shall get to the Chery
Authorized Service Station to make it
repaired.

If there are continuous chatter or
vibration spreading to the steering
wheel when braking, you shall get to
the Chery Authorized Service Station
immediately to make your vehicle
repaired.

The new brake pad must run-in and
then can reach its best braking effect.
Within the first 200 km, the braking
effect will decrease slightly. In this
case, the braking effect can be
compensated only after you add the
pedal force properly. This highlight is
also suitable for the new pad after
replacement.

The wearing status of a brake pad
largely depends on the operating
condition and drive mode. For the

Chery International Seat and Safety Protection

vehicles which are applied mainly in
the city traffic, the operating condition
of the brake pad is more rigor due to
the frequent start and stop. Thus,
please take care to get to the Chery
Authorized Service Station to check
the height of the brake pad or replace
it with a new brake pad according to
the maintenance mileage specified in
the “Maintenance Manual”

When driving on a slope, you shall
change to a lower gear in good time to
make the best of the braking action of
the engine and lighten the load of the
braking system. In this case, you shall
not step on the brake pedal
continuously even if it is required to
brake.

A wet brake disc may reduce the
brake efficiency. After wading, heavy
raining or vehicle washing, you shall
step on the brake pedal slightly to
make the brake disc and the brake
pad obtain the frictional heating. And
then evaporate the water to recover
the brake effect.

Caution:

If a front spoiler is added to a
vehicle, it shall be ensured that the
airflow to the front brake is smooth
without any obstruction, or the
braking system may be overheated
due to the poor abstraction of heat.

Brake booster

Caution:

The brake booster is controlled by
the vacuum of the engine. The
equipment can be available only
when the engine operates. Thus, do
not coast with engine off when
driving on a slope.

If the brake booster fails to operate
because the vehicle is dragged or due
to the failure of the booster, you shall
increase the force to step on the pedal
to compensate the boosting effect of
the booster.

Caution:

Any pedal shall be able to be
stepped to its extreme and can

Chery International Seat and Safety Protection

return back to its original position.
In addition, it can move freely.

So, it is preferable that the foot pad or
other coverings aren’t laid on the floor
around the pedal. If it is very
necessary to do so, it must be ensured
that the foot pad laid doesn’t interfere
the movement of the pedal, and
doesn’t slide.

ABS (Antilock Brake
System)

The ABS system can prevent the
wheel from locking, and make your
vehicle keep the steering performance
to enable you to avoid the obstruction
even when an emergency brake
occurs.

Action of ABS

The ABS system is not available
during the period of normal braking,
and is available only when the wheel
is about to be locked. The brake pedal
jitters and is accompanied with noises
when braking. It indicates that the ABS
system is being acted. This kind of
jittery and noises are normal.

In this case, please do not release
the brake pedal.

Use the ABS system to brake

Under the emergency case, you shall

continuously step on the brake pedal
by full force, and then the ABS system
will start up immediately to make you
still hold the control on the steering. If
the space is sufficient, you can also
avoid the obstruction.

It is recommended that you know well
this kind of braking technology firstly.
But, you shall avoid taking any
unnecessary risk.

Although the ABS
system can ensure the

best brake

efficiency, the

stopping distance will be
considerably different as the
traffic surface. It can’t be
