Diagnosing of damaged vehicle
While repairing a damaged vehicle, if no damages are being detected on the chassis or the
overhang, there may be possible future damages which are more serious. In case that there is
major deformation in the chassis as a result of accident, inspect the following components besides
the axles and various fixing parts which are specified in this chapter.
1. Steering system and steering clutch control: check if the functions of the linkage are
correct; check if there are any deformations or breakage.
2. Chassis: check if there are any deformations or breakage on the steering arm,
the shock-absorber assembly, stud threaded bolt, the stabilizer rod, the beam or the engine fixing
devices;
3. Wheel rim and tyre: check if they have been damaged, unbalanced or unmatched; check if
wheel treads and side walls of the tyre are broken; check inflation pressure of the tyre;
7. Engine overhang, transmission case and exhaust system: check if they are
worn.
If these instructions are not observed, there will be frequent water leakage into vehicle and it
is hard to determine the exact position of leakage, as the flowing directions of water in the vehicle
are not definite and it may flow along the combined water passages directly.
Another rule may also be found, that is, while there is more or less rain leakage entering the
vehicle when driving in a rainy whether, there is no water leakage when cleaning the vehicle at a
vehicle cleaning station or when the vehicle is under high-pressure water from a high-pressure
nozzle. The reason for this is the uneven roads, and the performance of the mechanic components
of the vehicle in operation, which has been affected by the bending stress and the distorting force,
causing the rainwater to enter the areas which are not adequately sealed.
There are many reasons for water leakage, such as:
A. There are faults with vehicle body connections due to false welding;
B. Loose spot welding due to insufficient metal surface preparation of welded parts before
welding;
C. Lack of sealing adhesives on sealing position;
D. Inferior quality of the sealing adhesives or the sealing grades don’t meet the
requirements;
E. There are faults with waterproof decorations of component assembly.
So it is obvious that the seals are necessary for the vehicle body assembly. Therefore after
replacing or repairing vehicle body parts, use proper adhesives according to joint types.
Adhesives should have proper adherence, elasticity and resistance, which enable the vehicle
body not to be broken or disjointed during movement or when being exposed to temperature
variations.
The sealing is not necessary for some areas because of the advanced manufacture technologies
which have been used on the assemblies. However due to the fact that the technical requirements
are not often met during repairs, all the welded joints should be well sealed. Use the seals
specified in this chapter on similar areas when performing the sealing on the vehicle.

Protection of the vehicle bottom plate
Attention: When repairing or replacing the welded parts or movable parts on vehicle body, if
it is necessary to remove the internal and external protection paint coating, replace the
anti-corrosion coating and the sound-isolating coating after the repairing and the replacing has
been completed. Particular attention should be paid to the areas subjected to fatigue, which are
caused mainly by mud, sand or stones thrown by the wheels.
