the
splines

Springs of driven plate broken or weak.
Replace driven plate.
Transmission input shaft worn
Replace the shaft and also the driven plate if necessary
Thrust bearing has play in engagement sleeve
Replace the thrust bearing
Replace thrust bearing.

THE CLUTCH SNATCHES
Oil or grease on engine flywheel or on driven plate
linings
Pressure plate distorted
Uneven wear of friction linings due to run-out of driven
plate
Diaphragm spring weak or fingers broken

THE CLUTCH DOES NOT DISENGAGE
Oil or grease on driven plate linings.
Transmission input spline damaged thus preventing
driven plate from sliding
Eliminate the problem causing the contamination; clean
flywheel thoroughly then replace driven plate
Replace the clutch.
