19 Screw lifting eyes 99 398 onto the engine

using flange bolts M12x30.

IMPORTANT! The lifting eyes on the engine
are not dimensioned to lift the whole vehicle and
therefore must not be used for this purpose.

All three lifting eyes on the engine must be used
when lifting the engine.

20 Secure the lifting chain 98 094 to the rear

lifting eyes.

21 Secure the lever block 587 308 to the front

lifting eye.

22 Disconnect the gearbox and support it with

the gearbox jack.

23 Disconnect the front engine brackets and lift

out the engine.

IMPORTANT! The lifting eyes are
dimensioned for a maximum lifting angle of 20°
when lifting the engine.

Screw lifting eyes 99 398 onto the engine
with flange bolts M12x30.

Disconnect the filter housing for the
crankcase ventilation and place to one side
so that it is free from the lifting chain.

Lift in the engine and bolt it to the front
engine bracket.

Bolt together the engine and gearbox.

Remove the lifting eyes.

Fit the AC compressor.

Screw on the filter housing for the crankcase
ventilation.

Fit the cable duct to the engine speed sensor.

Fit the exhaust brake and exhaust bellows
after the turbocharger.

10 Fit the oil pipe to and from the gearbox oil

cooler if the vehicle is fitted with a fluid
cooled gearbox oil cooler.

11 Attach the oil filler and oil dipstick to the oil

sump.

12 Fit the fuel lines 1, the clamp in the chassis

for the overflow lines 2, the compressed air
line 3 and the signal line from the
compressor 4.

13 Fit the earth braids on the right and

left-hand sides of the chassis.

14 Fit the starter motor wiring.

15 Fit the power steering pump.

16 Connect the cab heater or Webasto heater.

17 Clamp the engine cables and connect to the

cab.

18 Fit the gear change linkage.

19 Fit the inlet pipe between the turbocharger

and the air filter.

20 Fit the coolant lines, charge air pipe

between the engine and the charge air cooler
and the ventilation line from the engine to
the expansion tank.

21 Connect the electric cable to the fan if the

vehicle is fitted with an electrically
controlled fan.

22 Fill with engine oil and coolant.

23 Perform a road test to check that there are

no leaks. Top up with coolant if necessary.
