The delivery of the vehicle is a very important part of ensuring a
high level of customer satisfaction. Explain all SSC repairs to the
customer and apologize for any inconveniences. Thank the
customer for his or her time and their continuing patronage.

complete customer satisfaction with the repairs performed and the
service provided.

SSC. Please ensure that your dealership checks the National History File to see if
the vehicle has been repaired under this SSC prior to servicing the vehicle.

2002 MY Lexus ES 300 Driver s−Side Front Brake Line
SAFETY RECALL NOTICE
Dear Lexus Customer:
This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle
Safety Act. Lexus has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety
, exists in the driver s−side
front brake line on certain 2002 Model Year Lexus ES 300 vehicles.
What is the problem?
On certain 2002 Model Year ES 300 vehicles built at one of two assembly plants, due to interference
from the Front Coil Spring Spacers, the driver s−side front brake line may have been deformed. Lexus
installs Front Coil Spring Spacers at the assembly plant to prevent front end damage during
transportation. Due to mis−positioning of the Front Coil Spring Spacers during installation, it may have
interfered with the driver s side front brake line. In the worst case, if the brake line is deformed
significantly it may contact the inner fender panel, and eventually cause damage to the tube due to
vibration during driving. Brake tube damage could also lead to brake fluid leakage after extended use.
What will Lexus do
Any Lexus dealer will inspect and if necessary replace the drivers−side front brake line at
NO COST to you.
What should you do?
As your dealer must make arrangements to assure the necessary parts are in stock, please contact your
authorized Lexus dealer to make an appointment at your earliest convenience.
The labor time necessary is approximately one hour. However, depending upon the dealer’s work
schedule, it may be necessary to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time.
Please present this notice to the dealer when you bring the vehicle in for your service appointment.
If you no longer own the vehicle, please indicate so on the enclosed postage−paid form, providing us with
the name and address of the new owner.
