engine at the central bolt of
the crankshaft in the
direction of rotation of the

insert the flexible test
probe for the inspection
lamp via the spark plug
bore into the respective
cylinder

Remove/install

Risk of accident caused
by vehicle starting off by
itself when engine is
running. Risk of injury
caused by contusions and
burns during starting
procedure or when
working near the running
engine

Secure vehicle to prevent
it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-
fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or
rotating parts.

Bring engine to operating
temperature (approx. 80°
C)

Only test compression
when engine is at
operating temperature.

Crank engine with starter.

Do not crank engine at

steering lock but use
contact switch of the
compression recorder.

Crank engine several

times with the starter in
order to eliminate
combustion residues in
the cylinder.
