Is there battery voltage?

NO

Repair open in the wire between
the EVAP canister purge valve

and No. 20 ECU (PCM) (20 A)

fuse.

EVAP canister vent shut valve

test.

Check the EVAP canister vent
shut valve:

1. Disconnect the vacuum hose

and connect a vacuum pump
to the hose.

2. Connect the PCM connector

terminal F5 to the body ground
with a jumper wire.

3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
4. Apply vacuum to the hose.

Does the valve hold vacuum?

NO

Check for an open in the wire
(VSV line):

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the EVAP canister

vent shut valve 2P connector.

3. Check for continuity between

the EVAP canister vent shut
valve 2P connector terminal

No. 2 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES

Check for an open in the wire

(IG1 line):
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Measure voltage between the

EVAP canister vent shut valve
2P connector terminal No. 1
and body ground.

Replace the EVAP canister purge
valve.

EVAP
CANISTER

EVAP canister vent shut valve is
OK. Inspect the vacuum hose
between the EVAP canister
purge valve and the EVAP canis-
ter.

Repair open in the wire between

If the self-diagnostic indicator light does not blink, perform an inspection according to the table below.

Symptom

indicator light does not come on for two seconds after ignition

switch is first turned on (II).

indicator light is on constantly (not blinking) whenever the ignition

switch is on (II).

Shift lever cannot be moved from position with the brake pedal
pressed.

Ignition key cannot be moved from ACC (1) position to LOCK (0) position

while pushing the ignition key with the shift lever is in position.
