MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT (DRIVER'S)
A (26P) CONNECTOR
Wire side of female terminals
Is there continuity?
NO
Repair short in the wire between
the A2 or A13 terminal and the
ignition switch connector.
MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT (DRIVER'S)
B (16P) CONNECTOR
Is there continuity?
Check for short in the wire
between the B5 terminal and the
park pin switch. If wire is OK,
check the park pin switch.
Wire side of female terminals
Measure ATP P Voltage:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Measure the voltage between
the B2 terminal and body
ground.
NOTE: Shift lever must be in
Is there voltage?
Repair open in the wire between
the B2 terminal and the trans-
mission range switch.
Check Park Pin Switch Oper-
ation:
Check for continuity between the
B5 terminal and body ground.
Check for loose multiplex control
unit (driver's) connectors. If nec-
essary, substitute a known-good
multiplex control unit (driver's)
and recheck.
Check Key Interlock Solenoid for
a Short Circuit:
1. Disconnect the A (26P) and B
(16P) connectors from the mul-
tiplex control unit (driver's).
2. Check for continuity between
the A2 terminal and body
ground and between the A13
terminal and body ground indi-
vidually.

Torque Converter Clutch (Lock-up Control) Solenoid Valves
A and B
Test
1. Disconnect the transmission sub-harness connector
(14P).
2. Measure the resistance between the No. 1 terminal
(solenoid valve A) of the transmission sub-harness
connector and body ground, and between the No. 3
terminal (solenoid valve B) and body ground.
3. If the resistance is out of specification, disconnect
the 2P connector from the torque converter clutch
solenoid valves A and B.

4. Measure the resistance between the No. 2 terminal
(solenoid valve A) of the torque converter clutch
solenoid connector and body ground, and between
the No. 1 terminal (solenoid valve B) and body
ground.
STANDARD: 12 - 25
• If the resistance is OK, replace the transmission
sub-harness.
• If the resistance is out of specification, replace
the torque converter clutch solenoid valves A
and B.
5. If the resistance is within the standard, connect the
No. 1 terminal of the torque converter clutch
solenoid valve connector to the battery positive termi-
nal. A clicking sound should be heard. Connect the
No. 2 terminal to the battery positive terminal. A click-
ing sound should be heard. Replace the torque con-
verter clutch solenoid valves A and B if no clicking
sound is heard.

2. Clean the mounting surface and fluid passages of
the torque converter clutch solenoid valves A and B,
and install a new torque converter clutch solenoid
valves A and B with a new filter/gasket.
NOTE: Install the filter/gasket in the direction shown.
3. Check connector for rust, dirt or oil, then reconnect
the connector securely.
