HOOD OPENER CABLE REPLACEMENT

1. Remove these items:

a. Front fender trim (see FRONT FENDER TRIM REPLACEMENT )

b. Front bulkhead cover (see step 1 of HOOD MOLDING REPLACEMENT )

c. Front Inner fender (see FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT )

d. Kick panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREA )

2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see HOOD LATCH

REPLACEMENT ).

NOTE:

Put on gloves to protect your hands.

z

Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.

3. Using a clip remover, detach the clips (C, D), and remove the grommet (E) from the body, then remove

the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to bend the cable.

4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Replace any damaged clips.

z

Route the cable through the holes (F) in the body and front fender bulk head correctly.

1. Remove these items form the left side of the vehicle:

a. Front door sill trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREA )

b. Rear door sill trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREA )

c. B-pillar lower trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREA )

d. Rear seat cushion (see REAR SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )

e. Trunk lid trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK LID )

f. Trunk rear trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA )

g. Trunk side trim panel, left side (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA )

h. Trunk lid hinge garnish (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK LID )

2. Pull the carpet back as necessary.

3. Disconnect the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable (A) from the opener (B) (see TRUNK LID

OPENER/FUEL FILL DOOR OPENER REPLACEMENT ).

4. Release the opener cable from the clip (C). Remove the cushion tape (D).

5. Remove the fuel fill door latch (A) by turning it 90°, and detach the opener cable junction box (B) from
