• While the cranking switch is in OFF position, or
when 3 seconds pass after the cranking switch is
in OFF from ON.
• The battery voltage is 10 V or more.
Judgment Criterion

received through the CAN busline.
Comments on malfunction phenomenon
Current malfunction
• The possible causes are that the harness and the
connector have malfunction in the CAN busline
between the engine-ECU <M/T> or
engine-CVT-ECU <CVT> and the EPS-ECU, the
power supply system in the EPS-ECU has mal-
function, or the EPS-ECU/the engine-ECU <M/T>
or engine-CVT-ECU <CVT> has malfunction.

connector have malfunction in the CAN busline
between the engine-ECU <M/T> or
engine-CVT-ECU <CVT> and the EPS-ECU, or
the power supply system in the EPS-ECU has
malfunction. The diagnosis procedure is referred
to strategy for Intermittent malfunction (Refer to

ing/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with
Intermittent Malfunctions
.
NOTE: In the case of the previous malfunction, mal-
function cannot be found through the diagnose of
M.U.T.-III CAN busline even if the CAN busline
has malfunction; therefore check for the CAN
busline in the same way as Intermittent malfunc-
tion (Refer to GROUP00 - How to Use Trouble-
shooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope

CAUTION
If diagnosis code U1108 is output from
engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-CVT-ECU <CVT>,
surely perform CAN busline diagnosis.
CAUTION
Replace ECU after certainly confirming that the
communication circuits are normal.

• The signals cannot be received from combination
meter through CAN busline.
COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
Current malfunction
• The failure is possibly caused by malfunction of
the harness and connector in CAN busline
between engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-CVT-ECU
<CVT> and combination meter, by malfunction in
the power supply system of combination meter, in
combination meter itself, in engine-ECU <M/T> or

the power supply system of combination meter
(Refer to GROUP 00
− How to Use Troubleshoot-
ing/Inspection Service Points
− How to Cope with
Intermittent Malfunctions
).
NOTE: In case of Past malfunction, M.U.T.-III CAN
bus diagnosis cannot detect the failure even if
there is malfunction in CAN bus, so that check
CAN busline in the same way as Intermittent mal-
function (Refer to GROUP 00

bleshooting/Inspection Service Points

How to
Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions
The diagnosis codes being output to each ECU
