STEP 11. M.U.T.-III actuator test
• Item 08: Purge control solenoid valve
OK: Operating sound can be heard and the
valve vibrates.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP
00
− How to Use
Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points
−
How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions
).
NO :
Replace engine-ECU.
Code No. P0500: Vehicle Speed Signal System
FUNCTION
• The vehicle speed signal is input to engine-ECU
from ASC-ECU through CAN communication.
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Condition
• 2 seconds later from when ignition switch is in
ON position or after engine starts.
Judgement Criterion
• Engine speed is more than 2,500 r/min and is
less than 4,500 r/min.
• Under the high load operation
• For 4 seconds, vehicle speed information
received by CAN doesn't change.
Or
• For 4 seconds, vehicle speed information
received by CAN is abnormal.
PROBABLE CAUSES
• Failed ABS-ECU <Vehicle without ASC>
• Failed ABS/ASC-ECU <Vehicle with ASC>
• Failed CAN
• Failed engine-ECU
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code
Q: Is diagnosis code related with CAN communication
displayed?
YES :
Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer
to
NO :
Go to Step 2 .
STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code
• Confirm whether the diagnosis codes are output
from ASC-ECU.
Q: Is the diagnosis code output?
YES :
Perform the troubleshooting of ASC, (Refer
to GROUP 35C

Code No. P0513: Immobilizer Malfunction
OPERATION
• The signals are sent and received between
engine-ECU (terminal No. 120) and immobi-
lizer-ECU (terminal No. 3).
FUNCTION
• Engine-ECU sends or receives the control sig-
nals to or from immobilizer-ECU to certify the
ignition key.
NOTE:
.
•
If the registered ignition keys are close each
other when starting the engine, radio interfer-
ence may cause this code to be displayed.
•
This code may be displayed when registering
the key encrypted code.
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Condition
• Ignition switch is in "ON" position.
Judgment Criterion
• When the communication error between
engine-ECU and the immobilizer-ECU continues
for 4 seconds or more.
PROBABLE CAUSES
• Open/short circuit in immobilizer system circuit or
loose connector contact
• Failed immobilizer-ECU
• Failed engine-ECU
