FOR INPUT SIGNAL INSPECTION PROCEDURES

If troubles have occurred in the functions which use
the SWS simultaneously, observe the table below to
check input signals.
(This table shows only the input signals which will
cause troubles in at least two functions
simultaneously).
The passenger’s door lock key switch signal is not detected. <LH drive
vehicles>
Q-16
The passenger’s door lock key switch signal is not detected. <RH drive
vehicles>
The tailgate key switch signal is not detected.
Q-17
The tailgate lock release handle signal is not detected.

The driver's seat belt switch signal is not received <LH drive vehicles>
Q-19
The driver's seat belt switch signal is not received <RH drive vehicles>
The front passenger's seat belt switch signal is not received <LH drive
vehicles>

The front passenger's seat belt switch signal is not received <RH drive

Signal is not received from the electric remote controlled mirror switch
(folding/unfolding switch).

The interior lamp "all on" or "all off" switch signal is not sent to the
ETACS-ECU.

Each switch signal of the keyless entry transmitter is not received.

The interior lamp loaded signal is not detected.

Inspection Procedure A-1: Communication with the SWS monitor is not possible.
CAUTION
Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the
power supply circuit, the earthing circuit and the
communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The SWS monitor may be connected improperly.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
• Malfunction of the SWS monitor body (I/F
cartridge)
• Malfunction of the SWS monitor harness
• Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
• Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
Step 1. Check that the MUT-III communicates with
the other systems.
Check whether the MUT-III can communicate with
the other systems.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Go to Step 2.
NO :
Diagnose the system, which cannot
communicate with the MUT-III.
Step 2. Check that the MUT-III can communicate
with the system.
When the ignition switch is turned ON, check if the
MUT-III can communicate with the system.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Refer to Inspection Procedure A-3
"Communication with the ETACS-ECU is
not possible
NO :
Go to Step 3.
