STEP 5. Connector check: SRS-ECU connector
C-119, ignition switch connector C-307, joint
connector C-01 <LHD: diagnosis code B1477>,
joint connector C-33 <RHD: diagnosis code
B1477>, junction block connector C-202 and
C-205.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Check the harness wire for open circuit

between SRS-ECU connector C-119
(terminal No.24 <B1476> or terminal No.23
<B1477>) and the ignition switch connector
C-307 (terminal No.2), and repair if
necessary. Then go to Step 10.

NO :

Repair or replace it. Then go to Step 10.

STEP 6. Check a burned-out fuse.
(1) Replace the fuse.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, wait

for at least one minute and then turn the ignition
switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

(3) Check the fuse.

Q: Is the fuse in good condition?

YES :

Go to Step 10.

NO :

It is possible that the circuit using fuse No.2
<B1476> or No.3 <B1477> is shorted, go to
Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the SRS-ECU power supply
circuit for short circuit to earth. Resistance
measurement at the junction block connector
C-205.

(1) Disconnect junction block connector C-205, and

measure at the wiring harness side.

CAUTION

Do not insert a test probe into the terminal from
its front side directly as the connector contact
pressure may be weakened.
(2) Measure the resistance between terminal 24

<B1476> or 7 <B1477> and body earth.

OK: Open circuit

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Check the other circuit, which flows through

fuse No.2 <B1476> or fuse No.3
<B1477>.Then go to Step 10.

NO :

Go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check the power supply circuit for short
circuit to earth. Resistance measurement at the
SRS-ECU connector C-119.

(1) Disconnect SRS-ECU connector C-119, and

measure at the wiring harness side.

CAUTION

Do not insert a test probe into the terminal from
its front side directly as the connector contact
pressure may be weakened.
(2) Measure the resistance between terminal 24

<B1476> or 23 <B1477> and body earth.

OK: Open circuit

Q: Does continuity exist?

YES :

Erase the diagnosis code memory, and

check the diagnosis code. If diagnosis code
B1476 or B1477 sets, replace the
SRS-ECU. (Refer to

P.52B-223

). Then go to

Step 10.

NO :

Go to Step 9.
