STEP 14. Measure the ground voltage at PCM connector D-
135 by backprobing.
(1) Do not disconnect connector D-135.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Measure the voltage between terminal 96 and ground by
backprobing.
• Voltage should measure 0.5 volt or less.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the measured voltage within the specified range?
YES : Go to Step 15.
NO : Go to Step 17.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
If the transmission fluid temperature sensor output
detects the voltage which corresponds to 0 volt for
more than one second, there is a short in the trans-
mission fluid temperature sensor circuit and DTC 16
is set.
.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely
causes for this code to be set are:)
• Malfunction of the transmission fluid temperature
sensor circuit
• Damaged harness, connector
• Malfunction of the PCM
