CHECK (B20) BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector.

Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.

Connect a jumper wire between the (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch
Sense and ground.

Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B20) Brake
Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

>> Go To 5

No

>> Repair the (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit

for an open.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

CHECK (Z420) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.

Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (Z420)
Ground circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

>> Go To 6

No

>> Repair the (Z420) Ground circuit for an open.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR FOR AN OPEN

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.

Measure the resistance between the Brake Fluid Level Sensor terminals.

Is the resistance above 11.0k ohms?

Yes

>> Replace the Brake Fluid Level Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

>> Replace the Anti-Lock Brake Module in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Continuous.

Set Condition:
Below normal voltage detected on the brake fluid level sensor circuit.

Possible Causes

LOW BRAKE FlUID

(B20) BRAKE FlUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

DEFECTIVE SENSOR

Diagnostic Test

1.

LOW BRAKE FlUID

Check the Brake fluid level.

Is the brake fluid full?

Yes

>> Go To 2

No

>> Fill the Brake fluid to proper level.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST —
VER 1.

(B20) BRAKE FlUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

Disconnect the Anti-lock brake module (ABM)

Disconnect the Brake fluid level sensor harness connector.

NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the Brake fluid level sensor switch sense
circuit at the ABM harness connector to ground.

Is the resistance below 5 ohms?

Yes

>> Repair the (B20) Brake fluid level switch sense circuit for a

short to ground.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST — VER 1.

No

>> Replace the Brake fluid level sensor.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST — VER 1.
