SELECTOR SWITCH/TRANSFER CASE—MISMATCH (CONTINUED)

VERIFY TRANSFER CASE TYPE

Identify the Transfer Case type using the Transfer Case Identification Tag.

Select the Transfer Case type as indicated by the Identification Tag:

233/2WD

Go To 4

244/AWD

Go To 7

VERIFY MODULE TYPE 233/2WD

Identify the Transfer Case type using the DRBIII

T

.

Compare the Transfer Case type as identified by both the Identification Tag and the DRBIII

T

.

Do both identify the Transfer Case as 233/2WD?

Yes

>> Go To 5

No

>> Reprogram the Transfer Case Control Module as type 233/2WD in accordance with the Service Infor-

mation.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

5.

VERIFY SELECTOR SWITCH TYPE 233/2WD

Visually identify the Transfer Case Selector Switch type.

Does the Selector Switch display 2WD/4HI/4LO?

Yes

>> Go To 6

No

>> Replace the Transfer Case Selector Switch type 233/2WD in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR SWITCH 233/2WD

Turn the ignition off to the lock position.

Disconnect the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between the (K977) Mode Select circuit and the (T322) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit
in the Transfer Case Selector Switch.

Is the resistance between 5200 and 5950 ohms?

Yes

>> Go To 10

No

>> Replace the 233/2WD Transfer Case Selector Switch in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

VERIFY MODULE TYPE 244/AWD

Identify the Transfer Case type using the DRBIII

T

Compare the Transfer Case type as identified by both the Identification Tag and the DRBIII

T

.

Do both identify the Transfer Case as 244/AWD?

Yes

>> Go To 8

No

>> Reprogram the Transfer Case Control Module as type 244/AWD in accordance with the Service Infor-

mation.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

8.

VERIFY SELECTOR SWITCH TYPE 244/AWD

Visually identify the Transfer Case Selector Switch type.

Does the Selector Switch display AWD/4HI/4LO?

Yes

>> Go To 9

No

>> Replace the Transfer Case Selector Switch type 244/AWD in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

9.

TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR SWITCH 244/AWD

Turn the ignition off to the lock position.

Disconnect the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between the (K977) Mode Select circuit and the (T322) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit
in the Transfer Case Selector Switch.

Is the resistance between 3050 and 3600 ohms?

Yes

>> Go To 10

No

>> Replace the 244/AWD Transfer Case Selector Switch in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

10.

(T322) 5 VOLT SELECTOR SWITCH SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN

Turn the ignition off to the lock position.

Disconnect the Transfer Case Control Module C2 harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Ignition on, engine not running.

Measure the resistance of the (T322) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply
circuit from the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector to
the Transfer Case Control Module C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

>> Go To 11

No

>> Repair the (T322) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit for

an open circuit or high resistance.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer
to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/TRANSFER CASE
- DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

11.

(K977) MODE SELECT CIRCUIT OPEN

Disconnect the Transfer Case Control Module C1 harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the (K977) Mode Select circuit from the
Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector to the Transfer Case
Control Module C1 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

>> Go To 12

No

>> Repair the (K977) Mode Select circuit for an open circuit

or high resistance.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer
to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/TRANSFER CASE
- DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

12.

TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE

Using the wiring diagram as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors relative to this DTC. Inspect all power and
ground circuits. Repair as necessary.

If there are no Charging System related DTCs or other possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair

Replace the Transfer Case Control Module.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

13.

INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS

The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.

Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.

Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits.

Using the DRBIII

T

, monitor the data related to this circuit while performing the wiggle test. Look for the data to

change or for the DTC to reset.

Were there any problems found?

Yes

>> Repair as necessary.

Perform TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/
TRANSFER CASE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

No

>> Test Complete.
