*DRIVER DOOR FAILS TO UNLOCK FROM ANY SWITCH
POSSIBLE CAUSES

CENTRAL TIMER MODULE - DRIVER DOOR UNLOCK RELAY

NOTE: The same fuse that supplies the Left Headlamps also supplies current for the
Driver Door Unlock Relay.
Do the Left Headlamps illuminate properly?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Check the PDC CTM-B Fuse or refer to symptom list for problems
related to EXTERIOR LIGHTING..
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Central Timer Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Door Unlock Relay Output circuit to ground.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohm?
All
Yes
→
Repair the Driver Door Relay Output circuit for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace the Central Timer Module in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

POWER DOOR LOCKS/RKE
Symptom:
*ONE DOOR FAILS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK FROM ANY SWITCH
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DOOR LOCK MOTOR
DOOR LOCK RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
DOOR UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN

ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Door Lock Motor connector.
Using a 12-volt test light, connect one end to the Door Unlock Relay Output circuit
and the other to the Door Lock Relay Output circuit in the Door Lock Motor
connector.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the Door Lock Relay and then the Door Unlock Relay
Did the test light illuminate brightly when the door lock was actuated in both
directions?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Replace the Door Lock Motor in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Central Timer Module C2 connector.
Disconnect the Door Lock Motor connector.
Measure the resistance of the Door Lock Relay Output circuit between the CTM C2
connector and the Door Lock Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohm?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Repair the Door Lock Relay Output circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Central Timer Module C2 connector.
Disconnect the Door Lock Motor connector.
Measure the resistance of the Door Unlock Relay Output circuit between the CTM C2
connector and the Door Lock Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohm?
All
Yes
→
Test Complete.
No
→
Repair the Door Unlock Relay Output circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

POWER DOOR LOCKS/RKE
Symptom:
*REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSES
LOW BATTERIES
RKE FOB TEST
TRANSMITTER NOT PROGRAMMED
CENTRAL TIMER MODULE - RKE OPEN
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Remove the batteries from the RKE Transmitter.
Test the voltage of each battery.
Is the voltage above 3.0 in each battery?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Replace the batteries as necessary.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the DRBIII
t, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, MISCELLANEOUS, RKE
FOB TEST and follow the instructions on the DRBIII screen.
Does the transmitter pass the FOB TEST?
All
No
→
Replace the original transmitter and program the other transmit-
ters that are used with this vehicle.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Yes
→

With the DRBIII
t,select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, MISCELLANEOUS, PRO-
GRAM RKE.
Follow the instructions on the DRBIII screen and program the transmitter.
Operate the door locks using the transmitter.
Do the door locks respond to the transmitter?
All
Yes
→
Repair complete. Program other transmitters that are used with
this vehicle as necessary.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Replace the Central Timer Module in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

POWER DOOR LOCKS/RKE
Symptom:
HORN RELAY CONTROL SHORTED TO BATTERY
When Monitored and Set Condition:
HORN RELAY CONTROL SHORTED TO BATTERY
When Monitored:
Anytime the Central Timer Module is awake.
Set Condition:
When the horn pad is pressed and an attempt to actuate the horns has
occured.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
HORN RELAY INTERNAL MALFUNCTION
HORN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
CENTRAL TIMER MODULE INTERNAL MALFUNCTION

ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Remove the Horn Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Substitute the original Horn Relay with a known good relay.
With the DRBIII
t, record and erase DTC’s.
Press the horn pad several times.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTC’s.
Did the HORN RELAY CONTROL SHORTED TO BATTERY trouble code reset?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Replace the original Horn Relay.
Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST - 1A.

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Horn Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Disconnect the Central Timer Module.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between the Horn Relay Control circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 1.0 volt?
All
Yes
→
Repair the Horn Relay Control circuit for a short to voltage.
Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST - 1A.
No
→
Replace the Central Timer Module.
Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST - 1A.
