ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE HVAC
CENTRAL TIMER MODULE

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, enter Body then HVAC.
Was the DRB able to I/D or communicate with the HVAC?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Refer to the Communication category for the related symptom.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the DRB, erase DTC’s.
Turn the ignition on and wait approximately 1 minute.
With the DRB, read DTC’s.
Did this DTC reset?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Central Timer Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Test Complete.

COMMUNICATION
Symptom:
INTERNAL CHECKSUM FAILURE
POSSIBLE CAUSES
INTERNAL CHECKSUM FAILURE

1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, erase CTM DTC’s.
Turn the ignition off then turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, read CTM DTC’s.
Did this DTC reset?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Central Timer Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Test Complete.

COMMUNICATION
Symptom:
LOSS OF BATTERY #1
When Monitored and Set Condition:
LOSS OF BATTERY #1
When Monitored:
Continuously
Set Condition:
When the CTM detects low voltage on the Fused B+ input.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
CHECK DTCS
CHECK FUSE
OPEN FUSED B+ CIRCUIT

APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, erase CTM DTC’s.
Turn the ignition off then turn the ignition on and wait approximately 1 minute.
With the DRB, read CTM DTC’s.
Did this DTC reset?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Check for an intermittent wiring condition. Refer to the wiring
diagrams located in the service information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Remove and inspect PDC fuse #3.
Is the fuse open?
All
Yes
→
Check the Fused B+ circuit for a short to ground. Replace PDC
Fuse #3.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→

NOTE: Ensure Fuse #3 is installed in the PDC.
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the CTM C3 harness connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B+ circuit (cavity 6).
Is the test light illuminated?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Central Timer Module in accordance with the service
information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
LOSS OF BATTERY #2
When Monitored and Set Condition:
LOSS OF BATTERY #2
When Monitored:
Continuously
Set Condition:
When the CTM detects low voltage on the Fused B+ input.

CHECK FUSE
OPEN FUSED B+ CIRCUIT

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, erase CTM DTC’s.
Turn the ignition off then turn the ignition on and wait approximately 1 minute.
With the DRB, read CTM DTC’s.
Did this DTC reset?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Check for an intermittent wiring condition. Refer to the wiring
diagrams located in the service information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Remove and inspect PDC fuse #12.
Is the fuse open?
All
Yes
→
Check the Fused B+ circuit for a short to ground. Replace PDC
Fuse #12.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→

NOTE: Ensure Fuse #12 is installed in the PDC.
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the CTM C3 harness connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B+ circuit (cavity 1).
Is the test light illuminated?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Central Timer Module in accordance with the service
information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
