ACTION

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the CAB Connector C2.
Disconnect the left front wheel speed sensor harness connector.
Measure the resistance through the Wheel Speed Sensor (+) and (-) circuits at the
CAB harness connector.
Is the resistance below 200 ohms?
All
Yes
→
Repair the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuits Shorted
together.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Visually inspect the related wiring harness. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or
partially broken wires.
Visually inspect the related wire harness component and in-line connectors. Look for
broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
Refer to any Hotline letters or Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
All
Yes
→
Repair as necessary.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Test Complete.

Symptom:
MISMATCHED VIN
When Monitored and Set Condition:
MISMATCHED VIN
When Monitored:
Ignition on.
Set Condition:
Vehicle line or vehicle series information transmitted from PCM does not
match the expected values for two minutes. OR Vehicle line or series information not
transmitted by the PCM for two minutes.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, erase DTC’s.
Turn the ignition off.
Turn the ignition on.
Wait two minutes.
Did the ABS Warning Indicator come on after 2 minutes?
All
Yes
→
No
→

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, read the VIN status.
Compare programmed VIN with vehicle VIN.
Is the correct VIN programmed in the PCM?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Controller Antilock Brake in accordance with the
Service Information. Refer to the symptom *Replacing the Con-
troller Antilock Brake for additional information.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→
Program the correct VIN into the PCM.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.

BRAKES (CAB)
Symptom:
NUMBER OF TONE RING TEETH OUT OF RANGE
When Monitored and Set Condition:
NUMBER OF TONE RING TEETH OUT OF RANGE
When Monitored:
Ignition on.
Set Condition:
At least two of the three values for the number of tone ring teeth are not
in the range between 90 and 130. (If only one value of teeth is out of range then the value
of the other two will be used.) OR If all three teeth values are not in agreement.

t, read the axle programmed into the CAB.
Inspect axle in vehicle and identify it.
Compare the axle programmed into the CAB, and the actual axle installed into the
vehicle.
Does the programmed axle match the installed axle?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Controller Antilock Brake in accordance with the
Service Information. Refer to the symptom *Replacing the Con-
troller Antilock Brake for additional information.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No

Using the DRBIII
t, reprogram the CAB for the correct axle.

BRAKES (CAB)
Symptom:
PUMP MOTOR FAULT
When Monitored and Set Condition:
PUMP MOTOR FAULT
When Monitored:
Ignition on. The CAB commands the pump on at 20 km/h (12 mph) to
check its operation, if the brake switch is not applied. If the brake is applied, the test will
run at 40 km/h (25 mph). The CAB monitors pump voltage every 7 milliseconds.
Set Condition:
The DTC is stored when the CAB detects: 1) Improper voltage decay after
the pump was turned off. 2) Pump not energized by the CAB, but voltage is present for 3.5
seconds. 3) Pump is turned on by the CAB, but without sufficient voltage to operate it.

troller Antilock Brake for additional information.
