Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Low Coolant Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Low Coolant Switch Signal circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Repair the Low Coolant Switch Signal circuit for an open.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Low Coolant Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Low Coolant Switch Ground circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Repair the Low Coolant Switch Ground circuit for an open.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

NOTE: Ensure the PCM harness connectors are connected.
Disconnect the Low Coolant Switch harness connector.
Connect a high impedance test light between the Low Coolant Switch harness
connector cavities.
Turn the ignition on.
After 30 seconds, is the Low Coolant Lamp on steady?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Replace the Low Coolant Switch.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
dance with the Service Information.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Low Coolant Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Low Coolant Switch Signal circuit.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Repair the Low Coolant Switch Signal circuit for a short to
ground.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Low Coolant Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the Low Coolant Switch Signal circuit and Switch
Ground circuit.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?
All
Yes
→
No
→
Repair the Low Coolant Switch Signal and Switch Ground circuit
for a short together.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Low Coolant Switch harness connector.
Turn the ignition on and wait 30 seconds.
Is the Low Coolant Lamp on?
All
Yes
→
Replace the Low Coolant Switch.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
No
→

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
dance with the Service Information.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, read PCM DTCs.
Are any Communication DTCs present?
All
Yes
→
Refer to the Communication category in the Symptom List for the
related symptom(s).
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
No
→

Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test using the following steps:
Turn the ignition off and wait 30 seconds.
Press and hold the Tripometer reset button while turning the ignition on.
When CHEC appears in the odometer, release the Tripometer button.
When 999 appears in the odometer, press and release the Tripometer reset button
again.
Observe the Low Coolant Lamp.
Did the Low Coolant Lamp illuminate during the Instrument Cluster Self Test?
All
Yes
→
Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
dance with the Service Information.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
No
→

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Instrument Cluster.
Remove and inspect the Low Coolant Lamp bulb.
Is the bulb OK?

Yes
→
Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
No
→
Replace the Low Coolant Lamp bulb.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Are any Oil Pressure Sensor DTCs present?

Yes
→
Refer to symptom list for problems related to Oil Pressure Sensor
DTCs.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
No
→

CAUTION: Ensure the engine oil is at the proper level before proceeding.
Start the engine.
With the DRB in Sensors, read the Oil Pressure Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage between 1.0 and 4.0 volts?
All
Yes
→
No
→
