Dodge Dakota (R1). Manual — part 802
(1) Lift the compressor into position and install
the (4) spacers and mounting bolts (Fig. 5). Leave
them loose at this time.
(2) Rotate the H–Block to access and install the (2)
H–Block retaining bolts into the compressor drive
cup. Torque the bolts to 18 N·m (159 in. lbs.) (Fig. 6).
(3) Torque the compressor mounting bolts to 41
N·m (30 ft. lbs.) (Fig. 5).
(4) Torque the H-Block intermediate shaft coupler
pinch bolt to 13.5 N·m (120 in. lbs.) (Fig. 6).
(5) Connect the compressor clutch electrical con-
nector (Fig. 5).
(6) Uncap refrigerant lines and clean / inspect the
sealing O-rings for any damage such as cracked,
torn, distorted or brittle condition. Replace O-rings if
necessary.
(7) Install both refrigerant lines on the compressor
(Fig. 5). Torque the line retaining bolts to 22 N·m
(200 in. lbs.).
(8) Lower the vehicle from the hoist
(9) Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system-
(Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/
PLUMBING - STANDARD PROCEDURE).
(10) Connect the negative battery cable

the
condenser
retaining
bolts
and
torque to 33 N·m (25 ft. lbs.).
(3) Uncap refrigerant lines and clean / inspect the
sealing O-rings for any damage such as cracked,
torn, distorted or brittle condition. Replace O-rings if
necessary.
NOTE: Only use approved refrigerant oil for the
type of refrigerant used in the system to lubricate
O-rings during the assembly process.
(4) Lubricate the O-rings and connect the dis-
charge and liquid refrigerant lines on the condenser-
(Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/

(5) Install the secondary locking clips on the dis-
charge and liquid refrigerant lines.
(6) Install the condenser refrigerant line support
bracket.
NOTE: If the condenser being replaced, add 30 mil-
liliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the sys-
tem. Only use approved refrigerant oil for the type
of refrigerant used in the system
