Dodge Viper SRT-10 (ZB). Manual — part 339
Symptom:
BCM - IGNITION RUN 2 SHORT
When Monitored and Set Condition:
BCM - IGNITION RUN 2 SHORT
When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
Set Condition:
When the output is active and the BCM detects the Ignition 1 circuit is low
for at least 10 seconds.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
MODULE OR COMPONENT SHORT TO GROUND
FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (RUN) CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
BODY CONTROL MODULE
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
NOTE: Repeat this test until either the DTC is no longer present or all of the
components are disconnected from the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run)
circuit and the DTC is still present.
Turn the ignition off.
This DTC may set with the component or the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run)
circuit to any of the following:
Blower Motor Relay (In PDC)
Rear Window Defogger Relay (In PDC)
Back- Up Lamp Switch
Right and Left Back- Up Lamps (Back- Up Lamp Switch Output circuit)
NOTE: For the result of this test to be valid, disconnect only one component
at time and then verify if the DTC is still present.
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, disconnect the harness connector
with the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit from one component identified
above.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t in Body Computer, erase BCM DTCs.
Cycle the ignition from On to Off.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display IGNITION RUN 2 OUTPUT SHORT?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ Replace the module or the component that when disconnected,
allowed this DTC to clear.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

2
NOTE: All components identified in Test Number 1 must be disconnected
from the BCM’s Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit and the DTC
must still be present for the result of the test to be valid.
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run)
circuits in the BCM C2 harness connector.
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, disconnect the appropriate compo-
nent harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms on any of the circuits?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit for a short
to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace and program the Body Control Module in accordance
with the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
BCM - IOD OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
When Monitored and Set Condition:
BCM - IOD OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
When Monitored:
Whenever the ignition is in the RUN position.
Set Condition:
The IOD - B(+) circuit is supplied by the BCM to the Instrument Cluster,
RKE Module and both Window Motors (for hall effect). Whenever the current draw is above
10 amps for over 10 seconds, this code will set.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
MODULE OR COMPONENT SHORT TO GROUND

ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t in Body Computer, record and erase BCM DTCs.
Cycle the ignition from ON to OFF.
Start the engine.
With the DRBIII
t in Body Computer, read BCM DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display: IOD OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused this DTC is currently not present. Use
the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, and inspect the related
wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
2
NOTE: The following modules are on the IOD-B(+) circuit: RKE Module,
Instrument Cluster and both Door Window Motors (for hall effect supply).
Disconnect each of the modules or components listed above, one at a time while
observing the DRBIII
t until either the DTC is no longer present or all of the modules
and components are disconnected.
Ensure the RKE Module, Instrument Cluster and both Door Window Motors are
disconnected before proceeding.
With the DRBIII
t in Body Computer, erase BCM DTCs.
Cycle the ignition from ON to OFF to ON.
With the DRBIII
t in Body Computer, read BCM DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display: IOD OUTPUT SHORT?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Replace the module or the component that when disconnected,
allowed the DTC to clear.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
