Emergency lever: Used only in case of emergency (when the battery runs down and the ignition key cannot
be removed from the key cylinder).
DESCRIPTION
I
The electrical key interlock mechanism also operates as a shift lock:
With the key switch turned to “ON”, the selector lever cannot be shifted from “P” (parking) to any other
position unless the brake pedal is depressed.
With the key switch turned to “OFF” or with the key removed, the selector lever cannot be shifted from “P”
to any other position. The key cannot be removed unless the selector lever is placed in “P”.

The shift lock and key interlock mechanisms are controlled by shift lock control unit.
The shift lock control unit sends each ON-OFF signal to the shift lock solenoid and the key lock solenoid.
Then the shift lock solenoid operates the lock lever to hold the shift lever in “P” position.
And the key lock solenoid operates the stopper to prevent removing the ignition key from the key cylinder.
