Repairing ignition system

General notes on ignition system
♦ For trouble-free operation of electrical components, a voltage

of at least 11.5 V is necessary.

♦ Certain tests may lead to a fault being detected by the control

unit and stored. Therefore after completing all checks and re‐

pairs the fault memory must be read and if necessary cleared.

1 - Connector for knock sensor

❑ Secured to fuel rail with

retaining tab.

2 - Knock sensor 1 -G61-

❑ Gold-plated contacts on

sensor and connector.

❑ Line to knock sensor se‐

cured to coolant pipe.

3 - 20 Nm

❑ The specified torque in‐

fluences the function of

the knock sensor.

4 - Hall sender 2 -G163-

❑ For inlet camshaft bank
