Kia Sedona (2008 year). Instruction — part 192

4. Is the DTC B2521 present?

YES

Go to TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION procedure.

NO

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and
ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending,
corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to
"VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure.

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION

Refer to DTC B2119.

COMPONENT INSPECTION

1. Check FUSE

1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".

2. Disconnect stop lamp fuse of FAM and check its state.

3. Is fuse OK?

YES

Go to step 2.

NO

Replacing the fuse with `stop lamp fuse for test', if normal operating condition is confirmed,
Replace `stop lamp fuse for test' with `new stop lamp' and go to "VERIFICATION OF
VEHICLE REPAIR
".

2. Check FAM

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF", FAM: ON.

3. Measure the voltage between stop lamp power circuit of FAM (BCM-FE-34) and chassis ground.

Specification: 12V

4. Is the measured voltage within the specification?

YES

Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,
or damage.

Repair or replace if necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR"
procedure.

NO

Replacing the FAM with `FAM for test', if normal operating condition is confirmed, Replace `FAM
for test' with `new FAM' and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR".

VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RAM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, IPM, FAM, IMS and cluster module. Each part of
BCM is connected to one another through CAN communication line for efficient communication. Those
modules control front/rear, driver/passenger seat, cluster with electrical signal and they share information with
other modules. RAM (Rear Area Module) set up at rear-left of passenger room controls various rear lamps (tail
lamp, rear turn signal lamp, backup lamp, stop lamp, cabin lamp), window (sliding door power window, quarter
glass, rear defogger), rear wiper and oil cap door, the power of stop lamp is supplied from the power line
through FAM-->stop lamp-->RAM-->lamp in sequence. Controlling stop lamp is performed at FAM and RAM.
FAM transfers power from "HOT AT ALL TIMES power circuit" to stop lamp switch and via RAM, this power
is supplied to stop lamp. Furthermore, RAM senses stop temp circuit error as well.

DTC DESCRIPTION

B2524 is set when open in RAM or stop lamp circuit is detected.

DTC DETECTING CONDITION

Refer to DTC B2115.

MONITOR DTC STATUS

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.

4. Is the DTC B2524 set?

YES

Go to TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION.

Refer to DTC B2441.

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION

1. Check open in power circuit

1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"

2. Measure the resistance between stop lamp power circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BEC-

RF1-33,43, BEC-RR-14) and stop lamp (F18,F19-2,R03-1).
