GENERAL FUNCTIONS

On/off
With the ignition key in

the accessories position
or with the ignition on,
press button A to switch

the audio equipment on

or off.

Anti-theft system
The audio equipment is coded in such

a way that it can only operate in your

vehicle. It would not work if fi tted in an-

other vehicle.
The anti-theft system is automatic
and requires no action on your part.

Press button C to increase the audio

equipment volume or button B to de-

crease it.
A continuous press of buttons B and C
adjusts the volume gradually.

AUDIO SETTINGS

Press button G several
times in succession to
access the bass (BASS) ,
treble (TREB) , loudness
(LOUD) , fader (FAD) ,
balance (BAL) and auto-
matic volume correction
settings.
Exit from audio mode

is automatic after a few

seconds without any action or by press-
ing button G

following confi guration of

the automatic volume correction.

Adjusting the bass

When "BASS" is dis-
played, press button H
or I to change the setting.

"BASS -9" for a mini-
mum bass setting,

"BASS 0" for a stan-
dard setting,

setting.

Adjusting the treble
When "TREB" is displayed, press but-
ton H or I to change the setting.

setting.

Adjusting the loudness (LOUD)
This function automatically emphasises
bass and treble tones.
Press button H or I to switch the func-
tion on or off.

Note: bass, treble and loudness set-

tings are specifi c to each source. They

can be set differently for the radio

or CD.

The audio equipment can operate for
30 minutes without the ignition being
switched on.

Adjusting the front/rear sound
distribution (Fader)
When "FAD" is displayed, press
button H or I .
Button H increases the volume in the
front.
Button I increases the volume in the
rear.

Adjusting the right/left sound
distribution (Balance)
When "BAL" is displayed, press
button H or I .
Button H increases the volume on the
right.
Button I increases the volume on the
left.

Automatic volume correction
This function automatically adjusts the
volume in relation to the speed of the
vehicle.
Press button H or I to switch the func-
tion on or off.

RADIO

Notes on radio reception
Your car radio will be subject to phe-
nomena which do not affect domestic
radio sets. Both AM and FM reception is
subject to various forms of interference.

This is no refl ection on the quality of the

audio equipment, but is due to the na-

ture of the signals and the way in which
they are transmitted.
On AM, interference may be noticed
when passing under high voltage power
lines or bridges, or in tunnels.
On FM, interference may be the result
of increasing distance from the trans-

mitter, defl ection of the signals by ob-

stacles (mountains, hills, buildings,
etc.), or of being in an area which is not
covered by a transmitter.

Automatic station search

Press button J or L

briefl y to listen to

the station immediately above or below.
By continuing to press the button in the
direction selected, you will obtain con-

tinuous scrolling of the frequencies.

The scrolling stops at the fi rst station

found when the button is released.
If the TA

traffi c information programme

is selected, only stations broadcasting
this type of programme are selected.
Searching for a station takes place fi rst

in "LO" sensitivity (selection of the most
powerful transmitters) during scanning
of the waveband, then in "DX" sensitiv-

ity (selection of the weakest and most

distant transmitters).
To carry out a "DX" sensitivity search
directly, press button J or L twice.

Manual station search
Press the "MAN" button.
Press button J or L

briefl y to increase or

decrease the frequency displayed.
By continuing to press the button in the
direction selected, you will obtain con-

tinuous scrolling of the frequency.
The scrolling stops as soon as the but-
ton is released.
Pressing the "MAN" button again re-
turns you to the automatic station
search.

Manual storing of stations
Select the station required.
Press one of the buttons "1" to "6" for
more than two seconds.
The sound stops then becomes audible

again, confi rming that the station has

been stored.

Automatic storing of FM stations
(autostore)

Press button O for more
than two seconds.

Recalling stored stations
On each waveband, press one of the
buttons "1" to "6"

briefl y to recall the

corresponding stored station.

Your radio automatically stores the
6 stations with the strongest signal on
FM . These stations are stored on the
FMast waveband.
If it is not possible to fi nd six stations, the

unused memories remain unchanged.

RDS *

Using the RDS on FM
The RDS (Radio Data System) allows
you to continue listening to the same

station, whatever frequency it is using

in the region you are travelling through.

Press the "RDS" button

briefl y to switch the func-

tion on or off.

The multifunction screen will indicate:
-

"RDS" if the function is selected,

-

"(RDS)" if the function is selected
but not available.

RDS station following
The display indicates the name of the sta-
tion selected. When the RDS is selected,
the radio searches continuously for the
transmitter which is broadcasting the se-
lected station with the best reception.

Traffi c information programme (TA)

Regional following mode (REG)
When they are part of a network, cer-

tain stations broadcast regional pro-
grammes in the various areas they
serve. The regional following mode
allows you to continue listening to the
same programme.
To do this, press the "RDS" button for
more than two seconds to switch the
function on or off.

Any traffi c information announcement

will be given priority, whatever source

you are listening to (radio, CD).
If you wish to interrupt a message,
press the "TA" button; this switches the
function off.

Note: the volume of the traffi c infor-

mation is independent of the volume
of normal radio listening. You can
adjust it using the volume button.
The setting will be stored and will be
used for subsequent messages.

Search by type of programme (PTY)
This allows you to listen to stations broad-

casting a specifi c type of programme

(News, Culture, Sport, Rock...).

When FM is selected,
press the "TA" button for
more than two seconds
to switch the function on
or off.

To search for a PTY programme:

-

select the PTY function,

-

press button J or L

briefl y to scroll

down the list of the different types of
programme offered,

-

when the programme of your choice
is displayed, press button J or L for
more than two seconds to carry out
an automatic search (following an
automatic search, the PTY function
is switched off).

In PTY mode, the types of programme
can be stored. To do this, press the pre-
selection buttons "1" to "6" for more
than two seconds. Press the corre-

sponding button briefl y to recall the type

of programme stored.

EON system
This system connects stations which are

part of the same network. It permits the

broadcasting of TA

traffi c information or

of a PTY programme broadcast by a sta-

tion which is part of the same network as

the station to which you are listening.
This service is available when you have
selected the TA

traffi c information pro-

gramme or the PTY search by type of
programme.

Press the "TA" button
to switch the function on
or off.

The multifunction screen will indicate:
-

"TA" if the function is selected,

-

"(TA)" if the function is selected but
not available.

COMPACT DISC MODE

Selecting CD mode

Ejecting a disc

Selecting a track

Press button J

to select the next track.

Press button L to return to the start of

the current track or to select the previ-

ous track.

Accelerated play
Press and hold button J or L for for-

wards or backwards accelerated play.
Accelerated play stops as soon as the
button is released.

Random play (RDM)
When the CD player is selected, press

button N

for two seconds. The tracks

will be played in random order. Pressing
button N again for two seconds returns
you to normal play.
The random play mode is switched

off each time the audio equipment is

switched off.

The use of copied compact discs
may cause malfunctions.
Insert circular compact discs only.

Press button D to eject
the disc from the player.

After inserting a disc,
printed face uppermost,
the player starts auto-
matically.

If the player already contains a disc,
press button N .
