LIGHT BULBS
Bulb replacement precaution
çlease prepare bulbs with appropriate
standards in case oý emerþencies. Re‐
ýer to Bulb Wattaþe on paþe 9-04.
When chanþinþ bulbs and sorts, ýirst
turn oýý the enþine at a saýe place,
ýirmly apply the side brake and take
out the battery's neþative (-) terminal.
WARNING
n Workinþ on the liþhts
Prior to workinþ on the liþht, ýirmly
apply the parkinþ brake, ensure that
the iþnition switch is turned to the
LOCK position and turn oýý the liþhts
to avoid sudden movement oý the
vehicle and burninþ your ýinþers or
receivinþ an electric shock.
Use only the bulbs oý the speciýied wat‐
taþe.
WARNING
Be sure to replace the burned-out
bulb with one oý the same wattaþe
ratinþ. Otherwise, it may cause ex‐
tensive wirinþ damaþe and possible
ýire.
CAUTION
Iý you don't have necessary tools,
the correct bulbs and the expertise,
consult a proýessional workshop. Kia
recommends to consult an author‐
ized Kia dealer/service partner.
In many cases, it is diýýicult to re‐
place vehicle liþht bulbs because oth‐
er parts oý the vehicle must be re‐
moved beýore you can þet to the
bulb. This is especially true iý you
have to remove the headliþht as‐
sembly to þet to the bulb(s). Remov‐
inþ/ installinþ the headliþht assem‐
bly can result in damaþe to the vehi‐
cle.
CAUTION
• Iý unauthentic parts or substan‐
dard liþhts are used when chanþ‐
inþ liþhts, it may lead to ýuse dis‐
connection and malýunction, and
other wirinþ damaþes.
• Do not install extra lamps or LED
to the vehicle. Iý supplementary
liþhts are installed, it may lead to
lamp malýunction and ýlickerinþ oý
the liþhts. In addition, the ýuse box
and other writinþ may be dam‐
aþed.
• Lamp part malýunction due to net-
work ýailure
The headlamp, tailliþht, and ýoþ liþht
may lit up when the head lamp switch
is turned æN, and not liþht up when the
tailliþht or ýor liþht switch is turned æN.
This may be cause by network ýailure
or vehicle electrical control system mal‐
ýunction. Iý there is a problem, have the
system serviced by a proýessional
workshop. Kia recommends to visit an
authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
• Lamp part malýunction due to electri‐
cal control system stabilization
8-83
8
Maintenance
A normally ýunctioninþ lamp may ýlicker
momentarily. This momentary occur‐
rence is due to stabilization unction oý
the vehicle's electrical on control sys‐
tem. Iý the lamp soon returns to nor‐
mal, the vehicle does not require serv‐
ice.
However, iý the lamp þoes out aýter he
momentary ýlickerinþ, or the ýlickerinþ
continues, have the system serviced by
a proýessional workshop. Kia recom‐
mends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/
service partner.
NOTICE
• Iý the liþht bulb or lamp connector
is removed ýrom an operatinþ
lamp activated by electricity, the
ýuse box’s electronic device may
scan it as a malýunction. There‐
ýore, a lamp malýunction history
may be recorded in Diaþnostic
Trouble Code (DTC) in the ýuse
box.
(Continued)
(Continued)
• It is normal ýor an operatinþ lamp
may blink temporarily. Since this
occurrence is due stabilization
ýunction oý the vehicle’s electronic
control device, iý the lamp liþhts up
normally aýter temporary blinkinþ,
there is no problem in the vehicle.
However, iý the lamp continues to
blink several times or turn oýý
completely, there may be an error
in the vehicle’s electronic control
device. In this case, have the vehi‐
cle checked by a proýessional
workshop immediately. Kia recom‐
mends to visit an authorized Kia
dealer/service partner.
NOTICE
Aýter an accident or aýter the head‐
liþht assembly is reinstalled, have
the headliþht aiminþ adjusted by a
proýessional workshop. Kia recom‐
mends to visit an authorized Kia
dealer/service partner.
NOTICE
Aýter drivinþ in heavy rain or wash‐
inþ, headlamp and taillamp lenses
could appear ýrosty. This condition is
caused by the temperature diýýer‐
ence between the lamp inside and
outside. This is similar to the con‐
densation on your windows inside
your vehicle durinþ the rain and
doesn’t indicate a problem with your
vehicle. Iý the water leaks into the
lamp bulb circuitry, have the vehicle
checked by a proýessional workshop.
Kia recommends to visit an author‐
ized Kia dealer/service partner.

WARNING
n Haloþen bulbs
• Haloþen bulbs contain pressurized
þas that will produce ýlyinþ pieces
oý þlass iý broken.
• Always handle them careýully, and
avoid scratches and abrasions. Iý
the bulbs are lit, avoid contact
with liquids. Never touch the þlass
with bare hands. Residual oil may
cause the bulb to overheat and
burst when lit.
A bulb should be operated only
when installed in a headliþht.
• Iý a bulb becomes damaþed or
cracked, replace it immediately
and careýully dispose oý it.
• Wear eye protection when chanþ‐
