in it.

Passive Safety Body

An impact absorbing body which absorbs and distributes the impact
from front and side collisions to ease the effects of the impact on
the driver and passengers, and a high-strength body structure which
minimizes deformation of the cabin itself have been adopted as
passive safety measures.

[Frontal Collisions]

The front section of the body frame and underbody absorb and distribute the load generated by a frontal collision,
while the strong cabin frame eases the effect of the impact on the driver and passengers and minimizes deformation
of the cabin.

The front side members are of
a straight design to be effective-
ly deformed from the front end.
Also, in the event of a front col-
lision, the force of the impact is
effectively distributed to each
of the braces and members
through the sections where
they join the cabin.

[Side Collisons]

Along with the body structure which effectively
absorbs and distributes the load on the frame in
side collisions, we have maintained the strength
of each pillar, rocker panel and door to minimize
deformation of the cabin.

Head Impact Protection Structure

The construction adopted for the pillar trims and roof sides gives full consideration to protecting the heads of the
driver and passengers in the event of a collision.

VSC

(Vehicle Stability Control)

The primary purpose of the ABS and TRC system has been to help the vehicle’s stability during braking and accelera-
tion. In contrast, the purpose of the VSC system is to help the vehicle’s stability during cornering.
Depending on the unexpected situations or external elements such as the ground surface conditions, vehicle speed,
and emergency avoidance maneuvers, the vehicle may exhibit strong understeer or oversteer tendencies. In such situa-
tions, the VSC system dampens the strong understeer or oversteer to help vehicle stability.

Brake Assist

The primary purpose of the Brake Assist system is to provide an auxiliary brake force assist to the driver who cannot
generate a large brake force during emergency braking, thus maximizing the vehicle’s brake performance.

SRS

Airbag

SRS

airbags are standard for the driver’s and front passenger’s seats on all models. In the event of a frontal collision,

the airbags function to support the seatbelts in reducing the impact to the driver and front passenger. SRS side airbags,
which ease the impact in side collisions are also provided as standard.

ABS with EBD

ABS, which prevents wheel locking during braking, thus contributing to ensuring vehicle stability and steering perfor-
mance has been adopted for the RX300. Further, EBD (front and rear braking force distribution control) which uses
the ABS hydraulic control unit to realize proper braking force distribution between front and rear wheels in accordance
with driving conditions, is provided as a set with the ABS. EBD also controls the braking forces of right and left
wheels, helping maintain the vehicle stability during cornering braking. These functions make it possible to ensure
the excellent braking performance.

Seat Belt with Pretensioner & Force Limiter

A pretensioner which takes up the slack in the seat belt in a collision and a force limiter which eases the effect of
the impact from the seat belt on the chest have been selected for the front seats. For the rear seats as well, 3 sets of
3-point ALR/ELR seat belts have been set selected as standard.
