Tips

Air conditioner odor:
 After the air conditioner is turned

on for 10-20S, there may be

musty odor. It is normal because

the water vapor in the air

condenses into water droplets

attaching to the surface of the

evaporator core when the air

conditioner is working, and the

water absorbs part of the body

sweat, smoke, and dust in the

car.

 The water absorbing odor and

dust will be discharged through

the drain pipe, but it can

’t be

drained completely. After a long

time, the evaporator surface will

be moldy due to a lot of dust and

impurities attached.

Odor processing method:
 Clean the air conditioner

evaporator with degreasing

solvents.

Odor prevention method:
 Before stopping the car, turn off

the cooling air and turn on the

natural wind to maintain

relatively dry;

 Check and replace the filter

regularly;

 Keep the interior clean and

fresh.

CD Multimedia System (if

equipped)

Tips

 Before the engine is started,

please do not use the audio

system for a long time to

prevent the storage battery

from running out of power.

 The internal and external edges

of new laser CDs may be

rough, therefore remove any

burrs before they are used.

Otherwise, the plastic on the

rough edges may cause

interrupted playback and

display may appear due to blinking

lights, which may affect your vision,

please switch off the parking assist

system with rear view camera in

the event of blinking lights, such as

indicator lights.

It is difficult to display an image even

if the system functions normally

under the following circumstances:

1) When the camera is in a dark

area (such as at night)

2) When the camera is exposed to

very high or very low temperatures

3) There is water or mist on the lens

(for example, when it is raining)

4) The lens is dirty with snow, mud,

etc. There are scratches or dirt on

the lens

Driving Guidelines 2-2

Run-in Period

Drive the car stably and do not drive

at high speed.

BYD S6 does not have a complicated

run-in procedure. During the first

3,000 kilometres, please follow the

tips below to save fuel and extend the

service life of the vehicle:

1. When starting and driving, avoid

sudden acceleration.

2. Do not let the engine run

overspeed.

3. Avoid emergency braking during

the first 300 kilometres.

4. Do not drive the car for a long time

at the same speed, high or low.

Fuel

Appropriately selected fuel can benefit

engine performance, and is the key to

controlling exhaust emissions and

protecting relevant components.

Only use #93 or above unleaded

petrol.

Tips

 Do not use leaded petrol, which

may cause failure of the

three-way catalytic converter and

abnormality of the emission

pollution control device. It will also

increase maintenance expense.

 Engine damage or noncompliance

of emissions as a result of

improper fuel is not covered by

BYD S6 warranty.

Refill fuel

Fuel filler cap opening button

Tips

 Please refill fuel at an authorised

filling station.

 Please observe the rules of the

filling station.

 When the fuel tank cap is

loosened, do not remove it

immediately. In hot weather, if the

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

fuel filler cap is removed suddenly,

pressurised fuel may spray out of

the filler and cause injury.

Engine Exhaust Warning

WARNING

Large amounts of un-combusted

mixture gas entering the three-way

catalytic converter may cause

overheating of the converter and

even fire. To prevent dangers,

please follow the instructions

below:

1)Do not drive the car when the

fuel level is extremely low;

insufficient fuel may cause misfire

in the engine and overload in the

three-way catalytic converter.

2)Do not let the engine run for over

10 minutes at high idle speed or

over 20 minutes at low idle speed.

3)Do not let the engine run

overspeed.

4)Do not push or pull the car for

starting.

5)Do not press the start button

when driving.

6)Always keep the engine at an

optimum condition. If the electrical

system, electronic ignition system

or fuel system has a fault, the

three-way catalytic converter will

overheat.

7)If the engine has trouble in

starting or stalls frequently, please

check it immediately.

8)To ensure that the three-way

catalytic converter and the exhaust

emission control device function

properly, BYD S6 should be

inspected periodically according to

the maintenance instructions.

 Avoid inhaling exhaust gases

from the engine.

 Make sure the exhaust system

has no leakage or loose

connections. Please check the

exhaust system regularly. If the

car has a collision with any

objects or when you hear

abnormal exhaust noise, please

check the exhaust system

immediately.

WARNING

 Do not run the engine for a long

period in a garage or

unventilated site, as exhaust

gases may accumulate and

cause serious danger.
