ACTION
APPLICABILITY

Test the Power Top fuse in the PDC.
Is the fuse open?
All
Yes
→ Replace the fuse and operate the power top several times. If the
fuse blows again, use the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide to
locate the shorted circuit.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly).
Measure the voltage between Fused B+ circuit and ground at the Power Top Relays.
Is the voltage above 11.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 4
No
→ Repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly).
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Top Down Relay Control circuit.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Top Down Relay Control circuit for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 5

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly).
Disconnect the Driver Window Module.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Top Up Relay Control circuit.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Top Up Relay Control circuit for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 6

Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly).
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between the Top Down Relay Control circuit and ground .
Is there any voltage present?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Top Down Relay Control circuit for a short to voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 7

Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly).
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between the Top Up Relay Control circuit and ground .
Is there any voltage present?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Top Up Relay Control circuit for a short to voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 8

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
NOTE: Ensure the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly) is con-
nected before proceeding.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between the Top Down Relay Control circuit and Ground.
Is the voltage above 11.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 9
No
→ Go To 11

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
NOTE: Ensure the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly) is con-
nected before proceeding.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between the Top Up Relay Control circuit and Ground.
Is the voltage above 11.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Driver Window Regulator Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 10

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay (at the Pump assembly).
Measure the resistance of the Top Up Relay Control circuit between the relay
connector and the module connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Convertible Top Relay.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Top Up Relay Control circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Window Regulator Module.
Disconnect the Convertible Top Relay connector (at the Pump assembly).
Measure the resistance of the Top Down Relay Control circuit between the relay
connector and the module connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Convertible Top Relay.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Top Down Relay Control wire for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
POWER TOP RELAY INOPERATIVE
When Monitored and Set Condition:
POWER TOP RELAY INOPERATIVE
When Monitored:
Whenever the module is awake.
Set Condition:
If the voltage on either the Top Down or Top Up Relay Control circuit does
not drop to below 1.0 volts when a top up or top down command is sensed at the Power Top
Switch Mux circuit, this code will set.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
WINDOW MODULE INOPERATIVE
Repair Instructions:
WINDOW MODULE INOPERATIVE
If there are no other trouble codes present, replace the Window Regulator Module in
accordance with service information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
POWER TOP SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN
When Monitored and Set Condition:
POWER TOP SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN
When Monitored:
Whenever the module is awake.
Set Condition:
If the Module senses a voltage above 4.8 volts on the Power Top Switch
Mux circuit, this code will set.

t, record and erase DTC’s.
Cycle the ignition switch from On to Off to On.
Operate the Power Top down and up.
Wait one minute.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display POWER TOP SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The conditions that caused this code to set is not present at this
time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
wiring and connectors for a intermittent condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Turn all lights off.
Disconnect the Power Top Switch connector.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Repair the Power Top Switch Ground circuit.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
