BRAKE LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT (CONTINUED)
11.
MEASURE BRAKE LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Brake Lamp Relay.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Relay Control circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 28.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Go to 12
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Relay Control circuit for a short to
voltage.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE BRAKE LAMP RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE WITH BRAKE PEDAL PRESSED
With the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 17 while pressing the brake pedal.
Is the voltage above 10 volts?
Yes
>> Go to 13
No
>> Go to 18

MEASURE BRAKE LAMP RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE WITH BRAKE PEDAL RELEASED
With the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 17 with the brake pedal released.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Go to 17
No
>> Go to 14

CHECK THE BRAKE LAMP RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Brake Lamp Relay.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 17.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Go to 15
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit for a short to
voltage.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH B OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
With the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit at
Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 8 with the brake pedal
released.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Replace the Brake Lamp Relay.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
>> Go to 16

CHECK THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH B OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect Brake Lamp Switch harness connector B.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit at
Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 8.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Replace the Brake Lamp Switch.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit for a short
to voltage.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

17.
CHECK THE BRAKE LAMP RELAY
Turn the ignition off.
Connect a jumper wire between ground and the Brake Lamp Relay
Control circuit at CAB harness connector cavity 28.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 17 while pressing the brake pedal.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Replace the Controller Antilock Brake. (Refer to 8 - ELEC-
TRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES/CONTROL-
LER ANTILOCK BRAKE - REMOVAL)
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
>> Replace the Brake Lamp Relay.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
18.
CHECK THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH B OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE WITH BRAKE PEDAL PRESSED
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Brake Lamp Relay.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit at
Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 8 while pressing the
brake pedal.
Is the voltage above 10 volts?
Yes
>> Go to 19
No
>> Go to 21
