BRAKE LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT (CONTINUED)
3.
MEASURE THE RESISTANCE OF THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH A OUTPUT CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the Brake Lamp Switch A Output circuit
from the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector A cavity 1 to CAB har-
ness connector cavity 1.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
>> Go to 4
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Switch A Output circuit for an
open.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE RESISTANCE BETWEEN GROUND AND THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH A OUTPUT CIRCUIT
With the ignition off.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Brake Lamp Switch A
Output circuit at Controller Antilock Brake harness connector cavity 1.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?
Yes
>> Adjust or replace the Brake Lamp Switch.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Switch A Output circuit for a short
to ground.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE THE VOLTAGE OF THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH A OUTPUT CIRCUIT WITH THE BRAKE
PEDAL PRESSED
With the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Switch A Output circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 1 while pressing the brake pedal.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Go to 7
No
>> Go to 6

MEASURE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH A OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect Brake Lamp Switch harness connector A.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Switch A Output circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 1.
Is the voltage below 1.0 volt?
Yes
>> Replace the Brake Lamp Switch.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Switch A Output circuit for a short
to voltage.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE BRAKE LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
With the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Lamp Relay Control circuit at CAB
harness connector cavity 28.
Is the voltage above 10 volts?
Yes
>> Go to 11
No
>> Go to 8

MEASURE FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Brake Lamp Relay.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit at
Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 4.
Is the voltage above 10 volts?
Yes
>> Go to 9
No
>> Repair the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE RESISTANCE BETWEEN GROUND AND THE BRAKE LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Brake Lamp Relay
Control circuit at Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 6.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?
Yes
>> Go to 10
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Relay Control circuit for a short to
ground.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE BRAKE LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT RESISTANCE
With the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the Brake Lamp Relay Control circuit from
CAB harness connector cavity 28 to Brake Lamp Relay harness con-
nector cavity 6.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
>> Replace the Brake Lamp Relay.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
>> Repair the Brake Lamp Relay Control circuit for an open.
Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
