NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION
Description
INFOID:0000000009753523
FUEL CUT CONTROL (AT NO LOAD AND HIGH ENGINE SPEED)
If the engine speed is above 2,500 rpm under no load (for example, the selector lever position is neutral and
engine speed is over 2,500 rpm) fuel will be cut off after some time. The exact time when the fuel is cut off var-
ies based on engine speed.
Fuel cut will be operated until the engine speed reaches 2,000 rpm, then fuel cut will be cancelled.
NOTE:
This function is different from deceleration control listed under direct injection gasoline system,

EVAP LEAK CHECK
Inspection
INFOID:0000000009753527
CAUTION:
• Do not use compressed air or a high pressure pump.
• Do not exceed 4.12 kPa (0.042 kg/cm
2
, 0.6 psi) of pressure in EVAP system.
NOTE:
• Do not start engine.
• Improper installation of EVAP service port adapter [commercial service tool: (J-41413-OBD)] to the EVAP
service port may cause a leak.
1.
EVAP LEAK CHECK
With CONSULT
1.
Install EVAP service port adapter [commercial service tool: (J-
41413-OBD)] and pressure pump to EVAP service port.
2.
Turn ignition switch ON.
3.
Select the “EVAP SYSTEM CLOSE” in “WORK SUPPORT” mode of “ENGINE” using CONSULT.
4.
Touch “START”. A bar graph (Pressure indicating display) will appear on the screen.
5.
Apply positive pressure to the EVAP system until the pressure indicator reaches the middle of the bar
graph.
6.
Remove EVAP service port adapter [commercial service tool: (J-41413-OBD)] and hose with pressure
pump.
7.
Locate the leak using a leak detector [commercial service tool:
(J-41416)]. Refer to
EC-53, "EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYS-
.
Without CONSULT
1.
Install EVAP service port adapter [commercial service tool: (J-
41413-OBD)] and pressure pump to EVAP service port.

1.
CHECK PCV VALVE
With engine running at idle, remove PCV valve from rocker cover. A
properly working valve makes a hissing noise as air passes through
it. A strong vacuum should be felt immediately when a finger is
placed over valve inlet.
Is the inspection result normal?

Precautions for Removing of Battery Terminal
INFOID:0000000010235107
• When removing the 12V battery terminal, turn OFF the ignition
switch and wait at least 30 seconds.
NOTE:
ECU may be active for several tens of seconds after the ignition
switch is turned OFF. If the battery terminal is removed before ECU
stops, then a DTC detection error or ECU data corruption may
occur.
• For vehicles with the 2-batteries, be sure to connect the main bat-
tery and the sub battery before turning ON the ignition switch.
NOTE:
If the ignition switch is turned ON with any one of the terminals of
main battery and sub battery disconnected, then DTC may be
detected.
• After installing the 12V battery, always check "Self Diagnosis Result" of all ECUs and erase DTC.
NOTE:
The removal of 12V battery may cause a DTC detection error.
Precaution for Procedure without Cowl Top Cover
INFOID:0000000009753539
When performing the procedure after removing cowl top cover, cover
the lower end of windshield with urethane, etc to prevent damage to
windshield.
Precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT
PRE-TENSIONER"
INFOID:0000000009753540
The Supplemental Restraint System such as “AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. This system includes seat belt switch inputs and dual stage front air bag modules. The SRS
system uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front
air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants are belted or unbelted.
Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the “SRS AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT” of this
Service Manual.
WARNING:
Always observe the following items for preventing accidental activation.
• To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in
the event of a collision that would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by
an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.
• Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to personal
injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air Bag
Module, see “SRS AIR BAG”.
• Never use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this Ser-
vice Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or harness
connectors.
