DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (CAN GATEWAY)
CONSULT Function
INFOID:0000000009174985
CAUTION:
After disconnecting the CONSULT vehicle interface (VI) from the data link connector, the ignition must
be cycled OFF
→ ON (for at least 5 seconds) → OFF. If this step is not performed, the BCM may not go
to ”sleep mode”, potentially causing a discharged battery and no-start condition.
APPLICATION ITEM
CONSULT performs the following functions via CAN communication with CAN gateway.
ECU IDENTIFICATION
The CAN gateway part number is displayed.
SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT
• When “CRNT” is displayed on self-diagnosis result
- The system is presently malfunctioning.
• When “PAST” is displayed on self-diagnosis result
- System malfunction in the past is detected, but the system is presently normal.
Freeze Frame Data (FFD)
When DTC is detected, a vehicle state shown below is recorded and displayed on CONSULT.
CAN DIAG SUPPORT MONITOR
The results of transmit/receive diagnosis of CAN communication can be read.
CONFIGURATION
CAUTION:
Follow the instructions listed below. Failure to do this may cause malfunctions to the CAN gateway.:
• When replacing CAN gateway, you must perform “Read / Write Configuration” or “Manual Configura-
tion” with CONSULT.
• Complete the procedure of “Read / Write Configuration” or “Manual Configuration” in order.
• If you set incorrect “Read / Write Configuration” or “Manual Configuration”, incidents might occur.
• Configuration is different for each vehicle model. Confirm configuration of each vehicle model.
Diagnosis mode
Function Description
Ecu Identification
The CAN gateway part number is displayed.
Self Diagnostic Result
Displays the diagnosis results judged by CAN gateway.
CAN Diag Support Monitor
The results of transmit/receive diagnosis of CAN communication can be read.
Configuration
• Read and save the vehicle specification.
• Write the vehicle specification when replacing CAN gateway.
Item name
Display item
IGN counter
(0
− 39)
The number of times that ignition switch is turned ON after the DTC is detected is displayed.
• When “0” is displayed: It indicates that the system is presently malfunctioning.
• When except “0” is displayed: It indicates that system malfunction in the past is detected, but the system is pres-
ently normal.
NOTE:
Each time when ignition switch is turned OFF to ON, numerical number increases in 1
→ 2 → 3...38 → 39. When
the operation number of times exceeds 39, the number do not increase and “39” is displayed until self-diagnosis
result is erased.
Function
Description
