DTC B1620/21, B1625/22: DRIVER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION;
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

DESCRIPTION

The side airbag sensor LH and RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration
sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS
should be activated.

DTC B1620/21 or B1625/22 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor LH or RH

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

b. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

c. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

d. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

e. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

NOTE:

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while
performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is
reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires
approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and
settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds
or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery
terminal.
