Check that air does not flow from port A to port B

If the result is not as specified, replace the air pump

Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2

Check that air flows from port A to port B

If the result is not as specified, replace the air pump

REASSEMBLY

INSTALL AIR PUMP

a

Install the air pump, 3 insulators and 3 collars with the 3 bolts

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

INSTALLATION

INSTALL AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY

NOTE:



Do not operate the air pump continuously for 2 minutes or
more.



When operating the air pump, wait 5 minutes until the
pump has cooled down between each operation. If the
pump has not cooled down sufficiently, the motor will burn
out.

Install the air pump with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts

Torque: 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)

Connect the air pump connector

INSTALL NO. 4 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE

a

Install the No 4 air injection system hose as shown in the illustration

INSTALL WATER BYPASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a

Install a new O-ring to the water bypass pipe

Apply soapy water to the O-ring

c

Push in the water bypass pipe

d

Connect the water bypass pipe with the bolt

Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)

Connect the connector clamp

INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY

a

Install the intake manifold (see INSTALLATION )

CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

AIR PUMP (FOR BANK 2)

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see
INITIALIZATION ).
