HINT:
Cracks on the rib side of a fan and generator V belt are considered acceptable If the fan and
generator V belt has chunks missing from the ribs, it should be replaced

Check by hand that the belt fits properly in the ribbed grooves and has not slipped out of the
grooves on the bottom of the crank pulley

REMOVE V-BANK COVER (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

Remove the 5 bolts, 3 screws and engine under cover

REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the fan and
generator V belt from the belt tensioner

INSTALLATION

INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
a
While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align the holes, and then insert a bar of 6 mm
(0 236 in ) into the holes to fix the belt tensioner

Install the fan and generator V belt
HINT:
If it is hard to install the fan and generator V belt, perform the following procedures

Put the fan and generator V belt on all parts except the vane pump as shown below

While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, put the fan
and generator V belt on the vane pump

While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the bar

INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
a
Install the engine under cover with the 5 bolts and 3 screws
Torque: for bolt
29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)
for screw
5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)

INSTALL V-BANK COVER (See INSTALLATION )

REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK

Remove the intake air surge tank (see REMOVAL )

REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE SPARK PLUG (See DISASSEMBLY )
4
REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (See DISASSEMBLY )
5
REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See DISASSEMBLY )
6
SET NO. 1 CYLINDER TO TDC/COMPRESSION
a
Turn the crankshaft pulley, and align its groove with the timing mark "0" of the timing chain cover

Check that the timing marks of the camshaft timing gears and sprockets are aligned with the timing
marks of the bearing caps shown below If not, turn the crankshaft 1 complete revolution (360°)
and align the timing marks as above
