TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

NG: Go to step 2

OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS
TABLE
(see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )

2. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

a. Disconnect the z3 switch connector.

b. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

K3-7 (SW1) - K3-6 (SWG)

No switch is pushed 100 kohms or higher

Seek+ switch: push

Below 1 ohms

Seek- switch: push

329 ohms

Volume+ switch: push

1000 ohms

Volume- switch: push

3100 ohms

K3-8 (SW2) - K3-6 (SWG)

No switch is pushed 100 kohms or higher

MODE switch: push

Below 1 ohms

On Hook switch: push

329 ohms

Off Hook switch: push

1000 ohms

Standard resistance

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (see REMOVAL )

OK: Go to next step.

3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE

a. Disconnect the z3 switch connector.

b. Disconnect the J45 cable connector.

c. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations clockwise

CAUTION: The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system.

Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent
the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the PRECAUTION for
the SRS (see PRECAUTION ).

NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE (See REMOVAL )

OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - RADIO
RECEIVER)

ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT

DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the radio receiver and steering pad switch illumination when the light control switch is in
the TAIL or HEAD position.
