Toyota Tundra. Manual — part 2523
When the driver side seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON, the driver side seat belt
warning light on the meter comes on to inform the driver. The center airbag sensor detects the
driver side seat belt status and sends signals to the meter ECU using CAN.
b. Front passenger side seat belt warning light:
When the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON and the front
passenger side seat occupied, the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the integration
control and panel blinks. The integration control and panel displays the front passenger side seat
belt status and whether the front passenger side seat is occupied.
c. Seat belt warning buzzer:
When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver or front
passenger side seat belt is not fastened, the seat belt warning buzzer in the meter ECU sounds at
intervals of 1.2 seconds 5 times.

HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
HINT:
Use the following procedures to troubleshoot the seat belt warning system.
*: Use Techstream.
1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP
2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE
Standard voltage: 11 to 14 V
If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.
3. CHECK FOR DTC*
a. Check for DTCs and make a note of any codes that are output.
b. Clear the DTCs.
c. Recheck for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output above, try to cause the output of the same CAN
system DTC, airbag system DTC or occupant classification system DTC by simulating the
symptoms indicated by the DTC.
Result:
DTC RESULT CHART
B: Go TO CAN COMMUNICATION (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE )
C: Go TO AIRBAG SYSTEM (See PRECAUTION )
D: Go TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE
TABLE )
A: Go to next step.

OPERATION CHECK
1. INSPECT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT
a. Turn the ignition switch ON.
b. When the driver side seat belt is not fastened, check that the driver side seat belt warning light on
the meter blinks.
c. When the driver side seat belt is fastened, check that the driver side seat belt warning light on the
meter is off.
2. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT
a. Turn the ignition switch ON.
b. When the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened with the front passenger side seat occupied,
check that the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the integration control and panel
blinks.
c. When the front passenger side seat belt is fastened with the front passenger side seat occupied,
check that the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the integration control and panel is

3. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER
HINT:
If the buzzer does not sound, the buzzer cancel setting may be set to ON (see CUSTOMIZE
PARAMETERS ).
a. Turn the ignition switch ON.
b. When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver or front
passenger side seat belt is not fastened, check that the buzzer in the meter ECU sounds at intervals
of 1.2 seconds 5 times.
c. Check that the buzzer sounds at intervals of 0.4 seconds for 90 seconds.
d. Check that the buzzer stops 2 minutes after the buzzer starts sounding.
e. After the buzzer has stopped, turn the ignition switch OFF and then start the engine again. Drive
the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver or front passenger side seat
belt is not fastened, and then check that the buzzer sounds again.
f. After the buzzer has stopped, fasten the driver and front passenger side seat belts. Drive the vehicle
at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more, unfasten the driver or front passenger side seat belt,
and then check that the buzzer sounds again.
