HINT:

Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.8 in.). If using a torque wrench with
a length that is not 30 cm (11.8 in.), calculate the torque specification for the torque wrench
and SST based on the "without SST" torque specification (See PRECAUTION ).

Make sure SST and the wrench are connected in a straight line.

2. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1)

a. Install the sensor to the exhaust pipe by hand.

b. Using SST, tighten the sensor.

Torque: without SST

44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)

with SST

HINT:

a length that is not 30 cm (11.8 in.), calculate the torque specification for the torque wrench
and SST based on the "without SST" torque specification (See PRECAUTION ).

3. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

a. Install a new gasket and the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold RH with 3 new nuts.

Torque: 54 N*m (554 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf)

b. Install a new gasket and the exhaust pipe to the center exhaust pipe with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 48 N*m (489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)

c. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

d. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector and 2 clamps.

4. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for Regular Cab Standard Deck)

a. Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold LH with 3 new nuts.

Torque: 54 N*m (554 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf)

b. Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the front No. 3 exhaust pipe with the 2 bolts

and 2 new nuts.

Torque: 48 N*m (489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)

c. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

d. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

5. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (except Regular Cab Standard Deck)

a. Connect the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the exhaust pipe support.

b. Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold LH with 3 new nuts.

Torque: 54 N*m (554 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf)

c. Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the center exhaust pipe with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 48 N*m (489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)

d. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

e. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

6. INSTALL FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

7. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR (See INSTALLATION )

8. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK (See INSTALLATION )

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

a. Disconnect the sensor connector.

b. Measure the heater resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor.

c. Reconnect the sensor connector.

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )

2. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

Tester Connection

Condition Specified Condition

1 (HT1B) - 2 (+B) (for Bank 1)

20°C (68°F)

11 to 16 ohms

1 (HT2B) - 2 (+B) (for Bank 2)

CAUTION:

The procedures should be performed by at least 2 people.

Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe.

The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has
stopped.

Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.
