ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Check the mass air flow value.

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

3. Push the Techstream main switch ON.

4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Data List/All Data/MAF.

5. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check that the MAF value fluctuates.

If the result is not as specified, check the MAF meter. (See INSPECTION ), or wiring and

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER

NOTE:

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
(See INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from
the negative (-) battery terminal.

a. Check the output voltage.

1. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 (+B) and 2 (E2G).

2. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal 3 (VG), and negative (-)

tester probe to terminal 2 (E2G).

3. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check that the voltage fluctuates.

If the result is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.

NOTE:

While using the battery during inspection, do not bring the
positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a
short circuit may occur.
