Specifications
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE:

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT . (See REPLACEMENT ).
3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . (See REMOVAL).
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY . (See REMOVAL ).
5. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the sensor and gasket.
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Partially soak the sensor in water and warm up the water.

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
(See INITIALIZATION ).
After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from
the negative (-) battery terminal.

b. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION
If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Install a new gasket and the sensor.
Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
b. Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
3. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . (See REPLACEMENT ).

4. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK . (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).
5. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE:
When checking the sensor in water, keep the terminals dry. After the
check, wipe the sensor dry.
NOTE:
Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. (See
INITIALIZATION ).
