1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Read the value using the Techstream.

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (do not run the engine).

2. Turn the Techstream main switch ON.

3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Data List/All Data/MAF.

4. Wait 30 seconds, and read the values on the Techstream.

Specified condition

DATA LIST

If the result is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.

If the result is within the specified range, inspect the MAF meter (see INSPECTION ).

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER . (See INTAKE SYSTEM ).

3. REMOVE MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.

b. Remove the 2 screws and MAF meter.

NOTE:

Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level
surface.

Perform the inspection of the MAF meter while it is installed to
the air cleaner case (installed to the vehicle).

During the test, do not use the exhaust air duct to perform
suction on the exhaust pipe.

NOTE:

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
(see INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from
the negative (-) battery terminal.

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Perform a visual check for any foreign matter on the platinum hot wire (heater) of the mass airflow

meter shown in the illustration.

OK: There is no foreign material.

If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Install the MAF meter with the 2 screws.

b. Connect the MAF meter connector.

2. INSTALL V-BANK COVER . (See INTAKE SYSTEM ).

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE:

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see
