2. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal 3 (VG), and negative (-)

tester probe to terminal 2 (E2G).

3. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check that the voltage fluctuates.

If the result is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.

b. Perform a visual check for any foreign matter on the platinum hot wire (heater) of the mass air flow

meter shown in the illustration.

OK:

There is no foreign material.

If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.

c. Check the IAT sensor.

NOTE:

While using the battery during inspection, do not bring the
positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a
short circuit may occur.

1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

If the result is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Install the MAF meter with the 2 screws.

Torque: 1.7 N*m (17 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf)

b. Connect the MAF connector.

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition

4 (THA) - 5 (E2) -20°C (-4°F) 12.5 k to 16.9 kohms
4 (THA) - 5 (E2)

20°C (68°F) 2.19 k to 2.67 kohms

4 (THA) - 5 (E2) 60°C (140°F) 0.50 k to 0.68 kohms

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

2. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

a. Disconnect the sensor connector.

b. Remove the bolt and sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

a. Install the sensor with the bolt.

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

2. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

VVT SENSOR

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

3. REMOVE VVT SENSOR

a. Disconnect the 4 sensor connectors.

b. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 sensors.
