INSTALL EXHAUST VALVE
a
Apply plenty of engine oil to the tip area of the exhaust valve shown below
b
Install the valve, valve spring seat, compression spring and spring retainer to the cylinder head

Using SST, compress the compression spring and place the 2 spring retainer locks around the valve
stem
SST 09202-70020 (09202-00010, 09202-01010, 09202-01020)

Using a plastic-faced hammer and 5 mm pin punch, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure a proper
fit
NOTE:
Install the same parts in the same combination to their original
locations.
NOTE:
Do not damage the valve stem tip.

REPAIR INTAKE VALVE SEAT
a
Using a 45° carbon cutter, resurface the valve seats
HINT:
Only remove the amount of metal necessary to clean the seats

If the seating is too high on the valve face: Use 30° and 45° cutters to correct the seat
NOTE:
Repair the seat while checking the seating position.
Keep the lip free of foreign matter.
Take off a cutter gradually to make the intake valve seat smooth.

If the seating is too low on the valve face: Use 60° and 45° cutters to correct the seat

Check that the seat contact is in the middle of the valve face and has the following width
Standard width: 1.0 to 1.4 mm (0.0394 to 0.0551 in.)

Hand-lap the valve and valve seat with an abrasive compound

Clean and check the valve seating position
