DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART

DTC B1500 FUEL SENDER OPEN DETECTED
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when the combination meter detects the fuel sender gauge malfunction via the CAN.
DTC B1500 FUEL SENDER DETECTION CONDITION REFERENCE
WIRING DIAGRAM
ACTIVE TEST.
The displayed value has the same units (km/ h, mph) as the main scale of the vehicle's
speedometer.
The needle position should be within the acceptable tolerance.
*2: If this Active Test is being performed and the ignition switch is turned OFF and then
ON, the A/T and ODO/TRIP display area's background may turn white. If this occurs, end
this Active Test and turn the ignition switch OFF.
*3: w/ Multi-information display
*4: for 1GR-FE, 2UZ-FE
*5: for 3UR-FE

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (FUEL SENDER GAUGE)
a. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select the "DATA LIST" or "Data List" (see
DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ).
OK: Fuel value displayed on tester is almost same as needle indication

NG: Go to step 2
OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (see REMOVAL )
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SENDER GAUGE
AND BODY GROUND)
a. Disconnect the J28 meter connector.

b. Disconnect the R6 gauge connector.
c. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

a. Remove the fuel sender gauge.
