Pinpoint Tests

CAUTION: If the navigation system display module is to be removed for testing or

new component installation, remove any audio media (if possible) from within the
navigation system display module and return it to the customer. Failure to follow this
instruction may result in damage to the navigation system display module.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

(415-01 Information and Entertainment System, Removal
and Installation).
TEST the system for normal operation.

Ignition switch in position I.

2

Measure the voltage between the navigation system
display module C2ME03-A pin 15, circuit SBP06E

(BN/RD), harness side and ground; and between the
navigation system display module C2ME03-A pin 16,
circuit CDC33C (VT/GN), harness side and ground.

3

Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Yes

GO to A2

.

No

REPAIR circuit SBP06E (BN/RD) or circuit CDC33C
(VT/GN). TEST the system for normal operation.

A2: CHECK THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM DISPLAY MODULE FOR GROUND

Ignition switch in position 0.

1

Measure the resistance between the navigation
system display module C2ME03-A pin 11, circuit

GD103C (BK/BU), harness side and ground; and
between the navigation system display module
C2ME03-A pin 12, circuit GD103A (BK/BU), harness
side and ground.

2

Are the resistances less than 1 ohm?
Yes

GO to A3

.

No

REPAIR circuit GD103C (BK/BU) or circuit GD103A
(BK/BU). TEST the system for normal operation.

A3: CHECK CIRCUIT RME24A (BU/WH) TO GROUND

Connect Navigation System Display Module C2ME03-
A.

1

Disconnect Navigation System Display Module
C2ME03-B.

2

Measure the resistance between the navigation

3

system display module C2ME03-B pin 8, circuit
RME24A (BU/WH), harness side and ground.

Is the resistance less than 1 ohm?

Diagnosis and Testing

General Equipment

Inspection and Verification

NOTE: If a new navigation system display module is installed, allow the data from the
navigation CD ROM to download (approximately 10 minutes) to the navigation system
display module before inputting a destination into the navigation system display module.
The vehicle must then be driven until the navigation system is fully calibrated. Route
guidance will commence at approximately 30% of the calibration process and at 100% of
calibration the route guidance will be accurate.

1. 1. Verify the customer concern.

2. 2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart

3. 3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause

(if possible) before proceeding to the next step.

4. 4. If the cause is not visually evident, refer to the Dealer/Service Mode.

Dealer/Service Mode

NOTE: It is necessary to carry out part of the system diagnosis outside of the workshop.
Make sure there that are no large buildings/obstructions or metal objects in the
immediate vicinity.
NOTE: Make sure the navigation CD ROM is installed in the navigation system display
module before entering the Self-Diagnostic Mode.
NOTE: The navigation system display module will stay activated for up to ten minutes
after the unit has been switched OFF.
NOTE: The minimum number of satellites received by the navigation system display
module for correct operation is four. If the satellites received is below the minimum
requirement, the navigation system will not operate correctly. Move the vehicle to a
position where the required amount of satellites are received.

1. 1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

2. 2. Switch the navigation system display module ON.

3. 3. PRESS the NAV and SET buttons simultaneously for one second.

The navigation system display module now displays the following Dealer/Service menu
options:
