Chery A15 Maintenance Manual

Combination instrument component parts and functions:

Component Part

Function

Speedometer

Speedometer pointer moves as per signals sent by speed
sensor to indicate running speed of vehicle

Tachometer

Tachometer pointer moves according to signals sent by
ignitor to indicate engine speed

Water temperature

gauge

Water temperature gauge pointer moves according to
signals sent by sensor to indicate temperature of engine
coolant

Fuel gauge

Fuel gauge pointer moves as per signals sent by sensor to
indicate fuel state in fuel tank

Odometer

Odometer calculates the total running distance of vehicle
according to the pulse signals sent by speed sensor, and
may shift among short ranges

Dual short-range

vehicle according to pulse signal sent by speed sensor,
and may be reset with a switch

Power supply

module

The voltage regulator circuit installed in power supply
module provides power to meters and lights through fuse
S21 10A.

Combination

instrument

Circuit board

Includes circuits of all meters, gauges and lights and drive
circuits of engine oil warning, odometer and short-range
odometer.

Speed sensor

Installed in transmission and send pulse signal to
combination instrument according to output shaft rotation
rate

Water temperature sensor

Converts engine coolant temperature into ohmic value
and sends to combination instrument in form of signal

Fuel sensor

Converts fuel level in fuel tank into ohmic value and
sends to combination instrument in form of signal

Fuel level warning switch

onducts switch in fuel gauge in case fuel level falls

lower than set value to turn on warning light

Low engine oil pressure warning

switch

Fixed on engine body and conducts to turn on warning
light when engine oil pressure drops

Engine oil level warning switch

Installed in engine crankcase oil tray and turns on
warning light when engine oil level falls

Brake fluid level warning switch

Installed in oil tank of brake main pump and turns on
warning light when brake fluid level falls

Brake switch

Located on brake pedal bracket and conducted when the
pedal is stepped down to turn on warning light

Door control light switch

Conducted when door is open to turn on warning light

Warning light

Transmits current to warning lights or grounds them to
turn on warning lights when abnormal vehicle conditions
are detected

Indicator light

Transmits current to warning lights or grounds them to
turn on indicator lights or indicate vehicle conditions for
the driver

1. Speedometer

Chery A15 is equipped with cross coil speedometer with an additional digital

speedometer to indicate running speed of vehicle and total mileage run. Speed

measuring part adopts magnetic structure, and mileage recording part is controlled by

multifunction LCD.

Speedometer (Meter-2)

The pointer shall point to scale mark zero when speedometer is not working. When

the vehicle is running, the driving gear in transmission traverses lines of magnetic

force of the permanent magnet in speed sensor to make Hall speed sensor produce

pulse signals to be sent to cross coil speedometer to move the pointer, meanwhile sent

to multifunction LCD to record mileage.

2. Water Temperature Gauge

Water temperature gauge:

Chery A15 adopts cross coil water temperature gauge with pointer. The left part of the

meter (Meter-3) is water temperature gauge, as the figure shows.
